Understanding Reading strategies

1) How do the reading strategies promote comprehension?
In accordance with the topic, we have been given 7 different reading strategies in which
have individual attributes that could aide readers for better comprehension. Many studies
regarding comprehension show that each students have different learning approach thus, these
strategies could help them to better understand texts by choosing what reading strategy suits
them better because if the student choose a reading strategy that made him/her confuse then it
will ruin how they analyze the information in a text.
2) How can we engage struggling students?
As a student, I also am struggling most of the time, and the very reason for these struggles
is being unmotivated this leads to mental blocks. And with that, I know for a fact that most of the
struggling students have the same circumstances. We need to persuade them that there is
something valuable in reading because before we tell them to engage in this kind of activity we
must first grab their attention. At first, I didn't really like reading but then I read a book titled
”looking for Alaska” by John green it made me want to read more and the more I read the more I
wanted to explore different kinds of genres and types of literature. This is why the first thing we
have to do to let these struggling students participate in reading is to urge them that there is
beauty in reading.
3) is there a better or best strategy?
I think this is dependent on the individual, like what I’ve said earlier, these strategies are
created for us to be able to choose what could be the best strategy that suits and can help you to
analyze a text more efficiently.
