“Myth, Modernism and Mentorship: Examining François Fénelon’s Influence on James Joyce’s
Ulysses”

This thesis stresses the importance François Fénelon’s The Adventures of Telemachus had on
James Joyce’s Ulysses and suggests that rather than Bloom and Dedalus having a father - son
relationship, their interactions better fit a mentor - mentee paradigm.

program, which serves students from other countries.

 Used class discussion of current events to help build critical thinking skills in students.
 Stayed in regular contact with the Navitas director, helping to ensure that students did not
fall behind in their coursework.
