TUTORIAL
A dilute-phase pneumatic transport system is used to transport
900kg/hr of sand of particle density 2500 kg/m3 and mean particle
size of 100 µm in a 30 m horizontal distance. Pipe diameter is 78
mm
Given: ρg = 1.2 kg/m3, µ = 18.4 x 10-6 Pa.s, fg = 0.005, CD=3.1
Uo= 1.5 Usalt

TUTORIAL
A positive pressure dilute-phase transport system was used to
transport 900kg/h of sand of particle density 2500 kg/m3 and
mean particle size of 100 micron between two points in a plant
separated by 10 m vertical distance and 30 m horizontal distance
unsing ambient air. 78 mm inside diameter pipe was used.
Assume that six 90 bends are required and allowable pressure
loss is 0.55 bar
Given: ρg = 1.2 kg/m3, µ = 18.4 x 10-6 Pa.s, fg = 0.005, CD=3.1
