LESSON NO. 3: MULTIPLYING FRACTIONS AND MIXED NUMBERS

CONTENT STANDARD:
 demonstrates understanding of the four fundamental operations involving
fractions and decimals
LEARNING COMPETENCIES
 Multiplies decimals and mixed decimals with factors up to 2 decimal places
 Multiplies mentally decimals up to 2 decimals places by 0.1, 0.01, 10, and
100
 Solves routine and non- routine problems involving multiplication without or
with addition or subtraction of fractions and mixed fractions using
appropriate problem solving strategies and tools
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
 Multiplying simple fractions and mixed numbers
 Solves routine and non- routine problems involving multiplication without or
with addition or subtraction of fractions and mixed fractions using
appropriate problem solving strategies and tools

Fraction- simply tells us how many parts of a whole we have. 


Grouping- the act or process of combining in groups.
Numerator-  number above the line in a common fraction showing how many of the
parts indicated by the denominator are taken, for example, 2 in 2/3.
Denominator- the number below the line in a common fraction; a divisor.
