Policies
When I inquired about their Coupon Policy, this was the response sent to me

Dear Mrs. Milbrandt,

Thank you for contacting CVS/pharmacy regarding the use of coupons at our stores. I am able to help you with
this. Our coupon policy is not available on our Web site. We reserve the right to change this policy at any time.
Our registers are set to allow 1 CVS coupon and 1 manufacturer coupon per item. Free coupons or “offers at the
register” (OAR’s) are unearned and issued to you as a valued member of the CVS/pharmacy ExtraCare program.
These coupons take the form of “open ended” coupons such as $3 off $15 or a certain dollar amount off a
specific item. In any given transaction our registers will allow only one “open ended” coupon per transaction. CVS
Extra Buck coupons are earned when you make a qualifying purchase. These print out instantly at the register
upon reaching the threshold for the offer. You can use more than one Extra Buck coupon provided the purchase
threshold has been met for each offer amount on a per-transaction basis.

In the case where a particular item is on sale for “buy one get one free” (BOGO), you are only allowed to use one
manufacturer’s BOGO coupon. For instance, if Revlon lipstick is on sale for BOGO, you can use one
manufacturer’s BOGO coupon. You would get both items free and pay any applicable tax. We reserve the right to
limit quantities on all items. If our store is running a sale for BOGO, you can use two manufacturer’s coupons for
a specific dollar amount off. For example, if Revlon lipstick is on sale at our store for BOGO, you can use two
$1.00 off Revlon lipstick manufacturer coupons.

CVS/pharmacy does accept manufacturers’ coupons that have been obtained from manufacturer sponsored
and/or authorized Web sites. The coupon should be complete and contain a bar code that can be scanned at the
register. If the coupon does not scan, the cashier should politely inform you that we cannot accept your coupon.
We do not allow manual overrides at the register for coupons printed from the Internet. CVS/pharmacy will not
accept offers printed from unauthorized Internet postings or reproductions, copies, or facsimiles.

We do not accept competitors’ coupons for front store items nor do we match competitors’ sale prices. We feel
that our sales and ExtraCare program are comparable if not better than any sales or coupons offered by our
competitors. We also do not accept any expired coupons, CVS or otherwise. We do not “double” or “triple”
coupons. All coupons must match the product being purchased. We will not accept a coupon for a ‘like’ item. If
the item is not listed or pictured on the coupon, we cannot accept it.

Again Mrs. Milbrandt, thank you for contacting us. We value your business and look forward to serving you in the
future.

Sincerely,
Danielle

I recently contacted K-Mart customer service in search of a Printed Coupon Policy. Dylan C., a retail Customer
Care rep responded, “Thank you for your recent correspondence. We are always interested in hearing from our
customers. Please know that our policies for coupons vary according to the specific event. Please contact your
local store for further assistance. Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We appreciate your business and
value you as a Sears Holdings customer. We certainly hope you will continue to make Sears Holdings your choice
for quality and value.” I then received this email from them a few days later:

K-Mart’s Print-at-Home Internet Coupon Acceptance Policy:

Effective March 1, 2009 , Kmart will accept industry-standard, secure print-at-home coupons. Due to the
continuing shift in utilizing online facilities, allowing the redemption of print at home coupons is becoming a
larger more important aspect to the budget wise customer. But there is a significant risk in fraudulent alerted
coupons. It is critical that the following guidelines be understood and followed to identify coupons that will not
be accepted by the Kmart register operators. Kmart can only accept print-at-home coupons if they scan properly
at checkout. Legitimate printable coupons are delivered using special software designed to print a properly
rendered barcode on the coupon and limit the number of coupons printed. If the coupon does not scan properly
it cannot be accepted Kmart will not accept coupons for more than about 75% of a product’s value. For example,
a $2 off coupon for a product that sells for $2.25 is unlikely to be legitimate. If there are exceptions, Kmart is
usually provided advance notice by the manufacturer. Coupons will be rejected if they appear distorted or blurry,
altered in any way, or are obvious duplicates. Kmart will not accept ” FREE product” (no purchase required) print-
at-home coupons. It is currently an industry practice not to produce print-at-home manufacturer’s coupons for
free product. Buy-one-get-one-free coupons and other values that have a purchase requirement are acceptable.

Kmart’s Double Coupon Acceptance Policy (Double Manufacturer Coupons Up to & including $2 value):
Amount of credit from doubling a coupon cannot exceed the current retail price of a single item.
No cash or in-store purchase credit will be awarded for any amount exceeding the retail price of the item.
Limit 1 coupon for each item purchased.
Only 1 coupon will be doubled per item.
You may only purchase 4 of the same item using double coupons.
Buy One, Get One offers, Kmart Savings coupons and Kmart Store coupons are excluded from this promotion.
Coupons do not apply to sales tax.
Limit 10 coupons per customer per day.
Target Corporate Coupon Policy
Below you’ll find the current 2010 Corporate Coupon Policy for ALL US Target Stores.
You can request a hard copy of the policy be mailed to your home from the nice people at Target Guest Relations.

After Target sent me this policy at my request, I inquired if individual stores are required to uphold this policy or
if they may impose their own more-stringent rules or variations.

Please be sure you print the whole policy including the Target Guest Relations phone number and keep it with
you, so that if there is any question in validity the cashier or managers can call the 800 number.

When I contacted Target about their coupon policy this was their response.

“All Target stores should be following the same coupon policy. The next time you have an issue using coupons
please have them call us at (800) 440-0680 while you’re still in the store. Our Guest Relations Team will help
assist with any questions they may have about coupons.”

Thanks for asking us about using coupons at Target. Coupons are a great way to save even more when
shopping with us, and it’s easy to use them at our stores. Because of the variety of coupons available to our
guests, we do have some guidelines for how coupons can be redeemed at Target.

When accepting coupons, we use the following guidelines:

- We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued and manufacturer-issued.
- We'll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon
prohibits it.
- We can't give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item; in this
case, we're able to adjust the value of the coupon to equal the price of the item.
- We can't accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.
- All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier while you're checking out.

For questions about using a specific coupon, we encourage you to stop by Guest Service and ask to speak with
the Guest Service Team Leader. They’ll do their best to help while you’re in the store. If you still have questions
after speaking with them, please call our Guest Relations team at (800) 440-0680. Either way, we’re here to help!
Price Matching Policy
How does price matching work?
If you find an item in a competitor's printed ad that is priced lower than it is at your Target store, we will match
the price. The competitor's ad must be local and current, and the product must be the identical item, brand
name, quantity and model number. Target.com is excluded from our price matching policy. Competitor catalogs
can also be ad matched as long as the catalog displays a valid date and meets all other qualifications.

What if I've already made the purchase at Target?

No problem. Within seven days of purchase, bring your Target receipt and the competitor 's current printed ad.
We will reimburse the savings to you.

What qualifies as proof of a competitor's advertisement?

Please show us the entire printed advertisement. Photos, photocopies, or mobile phone versions of the ad
cannot be accepted as verification of competitive pricing.

What does 'identical store item' mean?

The program covers items with the identical brand name, size, weight, quantity and model number of the item at
Target stores. We reserve the right to verify a competitor's advertised price and the availability of the product.

Can I use coupons when price matching?

A guest can use coupons when price matching per Target's normal coupon policy. When the guests presents a
coupon(s), these steps will be followed:

Manufacturer Coupons:
Manufacturer coupons will be applied after the price match is made.

Target Coupons:
Target coupons will be applied before the price match is made. If the competitor price is still lower than the price
after the Target coupon has been deducted, the ad match can be adjusted to match the competitor's price.

Combining both a Target and Manufacturer Coupons:

The Target coupon will be applied before the price match is made. If the competitor price is still lower than the
price after the Target coupon has been deducted, the ad match can be adjusted to match the competitor's price.
Once the price match is made the manufacturer coupon will be applied.

Reminder: We accept one manufacturer coupon and one Target coupon for the same item unless either coupon
prohibits it.

Target does not ad match a competitors coupon-required offers.

What do you mean by local retail competitors?

This refers to retail stores located within the same market area as a particular Target store. Examples of a market
area can be a city, a metropolitan area or a specific rural region.
What about online price matching?
All online pricing, including Target.com, is excluded from our price matching policy, as well as online retail
promotions or products advertised on another company's web or mobile sites.

Other price matching exclusions include:

 Online prices, including Target.com  Damaged product or opened packaging
 Promotions or products advertised on another  Clearance or closeout items
company's web or mobile sites, even those  Mail in offers or instant rebates
advertising in-store prices.  Product services (warranties, assembly, etc.)
 Timed events (e.g., early bird, door busters)  Going-out-of-business liquidations
 Items advertised as limited time/limited  Special financing
supply/limited quantity  Used or previously owned items
 Membership club or loyalty programs (e.g. prices  Display merchandise
that require a club or loyalty card)  Pricing or typographical errors
 Coupon-required or giftcard offers  Owned brands (i.e., Home, Merona, Circo, Market
 Prices advertised only as a percent off or $ off Pantry and Archer Farms)
 Competitor's free product, buy one, get one,  Non-branded items (e.g. produce not marketed
bundled offers, or special purchases under a specific brand name)
 Mobile coupons  Target Portrait Studio, Optical, and Clinic offers
 Sales tax promotions  Expired Ads
Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding the acceptance of coupons at Walmart. Our guidelines generally
allow for the following types of coupons to be accepted:

- manufacturer coupons (Cents Off)

- free merchandise (or manufacturer's Buy-One-Get-One-Free) coupons
- store coupons
- internet coupons
- soft drink container caps

A salaried manager may refuse to accept a coupon if it does not meet certain criteria.

Coupon guidelines and limits include but are not limited to the following:

Walmart only accepts coupons for merchandise we sell and only when presented at the time of purchase. Coupons
should have an expiration date and be presented within the valid dates. Walmart will not accept expired coupons or
double/triple coupons. Internet coupons should be legible and say "Manufacturer Coupon_ and there should be a valid
remit address for the manufacturer and scannable bar code. Store Coupons must reflect a specific sale price or original
price and must be available to all customers. For 'Free' merchandise coupons, customers will not receive cash back --
the cashier will adjust the value of the coupon to the actual retail of the item at the time of sale. In addition, only one
coupon per item is permitted and use of 40 or more coupons per transaction will require approval by a Customer
Service Manager. For more information visit www.walmartstores.com.

Below you’ll find the current 2010 Corporate Coupon Policy for Albertsons!

Thank you for contacting us regarding our coupon policy. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you.
Our coupon policy is as follows:
Manufacturer Coupons: Coupons issued by the manufacturer containing: terms of agreement , face value, expiration
date, and verbiage manufacturer coupon. They have handling instructions printed on them.
-Most manufacturer coupons have barcodes on them and can be scanned. Any coupons that do not scan or do not
have barcodes should be checked for validity of expiration date and purchase requirements.
-Albertsons may issue coupons that are manufacturer coupons that contain the words redeemable only at Albertsons.

Store Coupons: Company s discount offers in various forms of media including, but not limited to, print, electronic,
newspaper, direct mailers, kiosks and Company websites.
-Store coupons may also contain the words redeemable only at Albertsons (or a banner of Albertsons).
-Store coupons may state that the discount applies only with Preferred Card/Super Card/Loyalty Card.
- When redeeming a store coupon the terms printed on the coupon must be adhered to.
-We do not accept competitor store coupons; these are limited to Albertsons only/Supervalu only.

Manufacturer Coupons can be combined with Store Coupons. There is a limit of one manufacturer and one store
coupon per item, not to exceed the value of the item.

Catalina Checkout Coupons/Rebates: Catalina is a third party vendor that partners with vendors and Albertsons to
offer both manufacturer coupons and Albertsons in-store coupons. The coupons are triggered by purchasing qualified
items at checkout which generate a coupon to print on the Catalina printer.
-It is Albertsons' policy that these coupons are to be used in a future purchase, not within the purchase in which they
are generated.
-Catalina coupons can only be given to the customer for whom they were intended (not to any other customer or
associate). If a customer does not want their Catalina coupons, it is Albertsons' policy that the cashier destroys them
immediately.
-Catalina may be contacted at 1-888-826-8766 for any questions about redemption and\or if a coupon fails to print
within a transaction.
-Catalina checkout coupons printed at other retailers may be accepted for redemption following the
manufacturer/competitor store coupon guidelines.

Internet Coupons: Coupons printed from an internet website presented for redemption with a qualifying purchase.
Coupons are accepted with the exceptions of those meeting the conditions below:
Albertsons DOES NOT accept internet coupons containing the following conditions:
- Free product offers that do not require a purchase
-Redemption value exceeding $5.00
-Absence of UPC bar code
-Photocopied internet coupons. Most internet sites will print a time and date stamp on the coupons, and limit each ISP
address to two coupons total. If multiple coupon have the same time and date stamp this could be an indicator the
coupon was photocopied, and should not be accepted. This is not a policy of the store but rather a means to prevent
coupon fraud.

The Southern California Banner does not accept competitor coupons of any type.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our Customer Care Center at 1-877-932-7948 or by e-
mail.

Sincerely, Marie R. Customer Care Representative

Stater Brother’s does not have an official coupon policy that I can post. I have spent a lot of time on the phone with
them and narrowed down their coupon policy rules.

 They do accept printable coupons.

 They do not accept printable coupons that are $2 and over.
 They do not accept printable coupons that say the word “Free”.
 Free product printable coupons will not be accepted.
 Buy One Get One Free printable coupons will not be accepted.
 They will allow a paper coupon with the electronic coupons they offer as long as it doesn’t violate the paper
coupon. Example: paper coupon says “Not valid with any other offer”. I find this wording on printable coupon
mostly.

Q: What day does the new ad begin?

A: Stater Brothers regular ads run from Wednesday to Tuesday. They also have 3 Day specials for Sunday through
Tuesday only.

Q: What is Stater Brothers policy on rainchecks? Expiration Date?

A: They will issue rain checks for advertised items unless stated otherwise (sometimes they specify "no rain checks" or
"while supplies last" in the ad). The rain checks expire within 30 days.

Here is the number to call if you have any questions, Ask for Anna 1-888-992-9977.
Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding our coupon policy at your local Vons store.

We are providing you the details of our coupon policy:

Manufacturer and Store Coupons:

1. We will redeem coupons only for the specific items included in our customer's purchase transaction. The redemption
value will be as stated on the coupon, unless that value yields a final price for such item less than zero; if application of
the redemption value yields a price less than zero, the coupon will be redeemed only for the amount that yields a zero
price (our customer cannot net a cash credit or payout from a coupon purchase).
2. Paper coupons must be presented at the time of the purchase transaction. We will accept only coupons issued by
Safeway or the manufacturer of the relevant product. We will not accept photocopies of coupons.
3. Coupons are subject to advertised offer limitations and all other limitations and restrictions on the applicable coupon
or product.
4. Coupons may not be applied against any free item received in any offer.
5. Coupons have no cash value.
6. Safeway will not accept manufacturer coupons (including, but not limited to, coupons issued through a Catalina or
other in-store coupon dispenser) that display another retailer's logo or name unless such coupon is for a specific item
with the same product identifiers as the product included in our customer's purchase transaction.
7. We will not accept coupons unless they have an expiration date.
8. We will not accept coupons that, in the determination of Safeway personnel, appear distorted or blurry or are
altered in any way.
9. Sales taxes will be applied in accordance with the law of the applicable state, regardless of any coupon or other
discount that may apply to the purchase transaction.
10. All applicable bottle and packaging deposits on the purchased and free items must be paid by the customer.
11. Safeway reserves the right to refuse any coupons at its discretion.
12. Purchase reward thresholds (if any) will be calculated based upon customer's final price (after deducting Club Card
savings and all other discounts and savings) before deductions for any manufacturer coupons. As an example (and not
as an offer), if a $10 minimum purchase is required for a customer reward, a customer's order at full retail would be
$12, a Club Card discount of $1.75 applies, and a manufacturer's coupon of $1 applies, the customer would be given
credit for a $10.25 purchase, and would be eligible for the reward (assuming compliance with all other requirements)
even though the customer's cash payment would be only $9.25. The manufacturer's coupon would not be deducted
from the total for purposes of determining reward eligibility.
13. References to a threshold purchase requirement will exclude purchases of: Beer, Wine, Spirits, Tobacco Products,
Fuel, All Fluid Items in the Refrigerated Dairy Section (including Fluid Dairy and Dairy Substitutes), Prescription Items
and Co-payments, Bus/Commuter Passes, Fishing/Hunting Licenses and Tags, Postage Stamps, Money Orders, Money
Transfers, Ski Tickets, Amusement Park Tickets, Event Tickets, Lottery Tickets, Phone Cards, Gift Cards, and Gift
Certificates; also excluded are: Bottle Deposits, Redemption Values, and Sales Taxes.

Internet Printed Coupons:

14. We gladly accept internet printed coupons. The same manufacturer and store coupon rules above apply to all
internet printed coupons.
15. Internet printed coupons must be capable of scanning at checkout.
16. Internet printed coupons must have serial numbers and must follow an industry-standard format.
17. Manufacturer internet printed coupons must clearly indicate that they are a manufacturer coupon and must have a
valid manufacture address on the printed coupon.
18. We will not accept "free product" internet printed manufacturer coupons.
Load to Card Club Coupons:
19. Internet and digital coupons that have been electronically loaded to a Safeway Club Card are automatically
redeemed at the time of purchase after the club card number has been entered. All other coupon policies above apply
to electronic coupons that are loaded to a club card.

Doubling of Coupons:
20. Check with your local store regarding ‘double coupon' advertised promotions where customers will receive double
the coupon face value off the regular or club card price up to the advertised limit. Not all locations offer double coupon
promotions. Limitations and restrictions for double coupon promotions may change at any time. Changes will be
posted in store only.

Coupon Stacking:
21. Safeway does not allow a customer to redeem two or more manufacturer coupons against the same item in a single
transaction.
22. Coupon stacking policies for manufacturer coupons apply to paper and electronic coupons that have been loaded
to a club card.
23. If a customer presents two coupons for the same item in a single transaction, Safeway will give the highest discount
for that item, subject to the terms of the applicable offer and/or coupon.

Rainchecks:
24. Rainchecks expire ninety (90) days from the date issued and will not be accepted at any Safeway store after that
time.
25. We reserve the right to limit Raincheck quantities based on product availability and advertised limits.
26. Rainchecks can be issued for up to six (6) items unless otherwise stated in the applicable advertisement.
27. Rainchecks can be issued for all items, excluding Beer, Wine, Spirits, Tobacco Products, Fuel, All Fluid Items in the
Refrigerated Dairy Section (including Fluid Dairy and Dairy Substitutes), which exclusions may vary from state to state.
28. Rainchecks can be offered for store super coupon items unless otherwise specified on the coupon. Rainchecks will
not be provided for items advertised as "clearance", "while supplies last," limited quantities," or other designation
indicating a limited supply.

We may change these rules at any time. All coupon redemption terms are subject to the terms of the rules in effect at
time of redemption. Rule changes may become effective without advance notice or advertisement. The current rules
will be posted at the customer service area in each store. You are also advised to periodically check our website for any
changes to these rules.
