PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

In my experience as an educator, I can say that a truly have a passion for working with

students. It is my utmost desire to teach each student the fundamentals needed for their education.

My goal is to provide a welcoming environment so that every child can succeed and grow. Each child

comes from a family that has their own unique background that I respect and value. I want to assure

that every child has the opportunity to grow and learn to their highest ability. It is of upmost

importance to help students feel safe in their environment and make sure that their basic needs are

met, in order for them to be able to learn. I hope to expand the students’ knowledge by creating a

hands-on student-centered approach that will engage students in their learning.

Parents will trust that I will educate and care for their children each day that they are present

in my classroom. My goal is to challenge students to exceed their own expectations for themselves.

I will give my students every opportunity to express their own opinions and have a positive attitude

toward a valued education. I will provide adequate feedback to each child so that they can progress

and achieve. There is nothing more important to me than expanding my knowledge as an educator to

help each child find success. A teacher must have great expectations for each and every child that

enters their classroom. Children can also bring in their personal experiences to expand on classroom

discussion. As a teacher, I recognize that each student comes from a different background with

different living styles, religious views, and social aspects. According to the family systems theory it is

important to understand family dynamics and that one event can affect the entire family.

I have come into contact with those of many different cultures, which I have always found

myself wanting to learn more about them and their customs. I value difference and variety, which

makes me enjoy teaching students and learn from them as well. I know that I will need to adjust my

methods and teaching based on the needs and differences of each child. By reflecting on my own

teaching strategies, I can be sure that I can providing the best measures to assure student success. I

think that the best way to help our students succeed is to adopt a student-centered approach. By
doing this, the students will be more likely to learn and be engaged in the learning process. I want to

provide a variety of learning experiences for students that are surrounded around their own

interests. As an educator, I feel that it is important to help students feel connected to their learning.

By using the students interests to teach, I can provide the students help with their individual needs.

I have compiled a list of some considerations for a student-centered classroom:

• I believe that students that are entering a new environment should adjust to a predictable

routine. Students should be able to know what comes next in their day. This will prepare

students mentally so that they are ready to learn and know what is expected of them.

• A hands-on approach is important to provide students with engagement in their learning.

When students are engaged, they are more likely to remember what they have learned. By

providing a hands-on approach the students get to experience learning first-hand.

• I find that using various types of modalities has a lot of importance when working with

students. It is important to help students connect visually, auditorily, or kinesthetically to

provide them with knowledge in the best modality for their needs.

• Each student brings a unique background into the classroom. Each student has a different

skill set and knowledge that can be used to help them grow. This knowledge can be quite vital

in providing an effective learning environment.

• It is possible that the most important aspect is for the teacher to reflect on strategies that did

and didn’t work. Educators need to be flexible and adjust methods for student growth.

My philosophy of education is to provide an environment for each child to expand their

knowledge in a place that makes them feel safe and able to learn. I am very passionate about

education and providing experiences for children to learn and grow developmentally. I feel that it is

important for them learn as much as they can to prepare them for their upcoming years that play an

important role in their academics. Overall, I strive to be proud of my impact on students to help

them reach their highest level of ability and success.
