Circuits” course for live lectures according to the timetable. The audio and video recordings as well as other
relevant material is also available under the course heading.
Course Description:
One of the main goals of this course is to explain the basic concepts of semi-conductor diode and its current-voltage
relationship. Various applications of junction diode are also discussed in this course. The course also enables the
students to apply circuit analysis techniques on electronic circuits. Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJTs) and Field-
Effect Transistors (FETs) are evolved as two PN-junction devices. Relations of various currents and voltages in these
transistors are explained in detail. The effect of temperature on these semiconductor devices is highlighted. Similarly,
the working principles of Op-Amps and MOSFETS are also taught. Their critical parameters impacting design of
amplifiers are talked about in detail. A variety of applications of various types of transistors, Op-Amps and MOSFETS

are dealt with. In addition to theoretical concepts, the course equally emphasizes on implementation of electronic
circuits and measurements of their inputs and outputs.
Main Topics to be Covered:
 Semi-conductor devices and Introduction to Diodes with its terminal characteristics
 Ideal diode Model and its applications in rectifiers and logic gates
 Introduction to Limiter Circuits and Clamper Circuits with voltage doubler
 Introduction to BJTs and its biasing requirements
 DC Analysis of BJT based circuits
 AC Analysis of BJT based CE, CB, CC Amplifiers and its modelling
 Introduction to FETs and modelling of MOSFETs
 DC Analysis of MOSFET based Amplifier Circuits and its comparison
 AC Analysis of MOSFET based Amplifiers. Modeling of CS, CG and CD Amplifiers
 Introduction to Op-Amps and its applications
