“ NEWNESS OF LIFE “
Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We
were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from
the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Insight:
Baptism is one of the foundation truths of the doctrine of Christ which every Christian should know
about it. To be baptized into Christ, is either to be baptized in the name of Christ.
Acts 10:48 - So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to
stay with them for a few days.
Galatians 3:27 - for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
As Christ died to sin, so we die to sin too so that we can make Him as one body into us. His death
becomes ours and it means reconciliation with Him. Christians who dead to sin should not continue to
live wickedly but instead in righteousness and holiness.
1 Peter 2:24 - “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live
for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
2 Corinthians 4:10 - We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may
also be revealed in our body.
As He rose from death, we should rise with Christ to a new life- a life of holiness. We should walk and
live according to His will. As a new creation the old self has gone, the new has come.
Colossians 2:12 - having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with
him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.
Galatians 2:20 - I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I
now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the
new is here!
Our newness of life is a preparation for and an introduction into eternal life. We should live it for God’s
glory.
Application:
We need to know Him as the resurrection life. Leave your old self and walk into the new life. Dwell
Christ in your heart as if we died with Him, we will also live with Him.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for this new day, we want to come before You this morning with
thanksgiving in our heart, praising and glorifying You. Thank you for Your good gift of Your word which
serve as our spiritual food. We praise You and exalt Your name oh Lord. As we have a new life through
your grace, You saved us from dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Your Son.
Through the guidance of the Holy spirit, continue to lead us into Your way and may we seek Your
Kingdom as You dwell in our hearts. May we live as salt and light of this world as You shine upon us.
Thank you for the love and care that You have for us, We honor and glory You through the name of our
Lord Jesus Christ we pray and believed. Amen.
