Overview of CCS (Combined Charging System) VISION

MISSION

Features of combined charging ACTIVITIES

▪ Integrated electrical architecture for all relevant AC and DC

▪ Two variants available for different geographies – CCS 1 and CCS 2

▪ Only One inlet and one charging architecture

for AC and DC charging
CCS 1
→ low overall system costs
Typically 110 v- 220 V

▪ Certified payment and accounting system

▪ Interoperability secured Golden Test Device
▪ Powerline Communication (PLC) for DC Charging and
advanced services
▪ State of the art communication via HomePlug GreenPHY
CCS 2 enables integration V2H and V2G
Typically 220 V- 415 V

Overview of CCS (Combined Charging System) VISION

MISSION

Advantages over other standards ACTIVITIES

▪ Charging power up to 350 kW with one charging gun.

Other standards need two charging guns for this output.
▪ Charging voltage up to 1,000 V and Current up to 350 A using liquid
cooled cables and connectors.

High Power CCS

Chargers

▪ Powerline Communication (PLC) allows for secure

communication with encrypted communication.
▪ Authentication can be built in so that user can plug and charge
with no additional interaction.
▪ Load management and smart metering are built into the
standard.

Policy Suggestions for accelerating xEV adoption VISION

MISSION

Learnings from the global markets ACTIVITIES

1. Understand the CO2 reduction from a well to wheel perspective rather than a tank to wheel
perspective.
2. Being technology agnostic allows the market forces to determine what level of
electrification is attractive to customers.
3. Develop economies of scale for xEV components by promoting hybrids along with pure
electric vehicles.
4. Rationalize lithium battery import policies across applications like Automotive and
Renewable Energy Storage.
5. Strategy for rapid infrastructure development for electric mobility.
6. Policies need to be relevant to Indian market conditions and customer affordability.
