Drone

Drones, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or unmanned aircraft systems (UASes), are flying robots that can be remotely controlled or fly autonomously. They were initially used mostly by the military but are now used widely for civilian purposes like search and rescue, surveillance, agriculture, and delivery services. Drones equipped with cameras and sensors can help monitor crops, power lines, and properties for insurance claims. However, hackers can target drones' control systems and drones have a short battery life.

A drone, in a technological context, is an unmanned aircraft.

Drones are more formally known as

unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or unmanned aircraft systems (UASes). Essentially, a drone is a flying
robot. The aircrafts may be remotely controlled or can fly autonomously through software-controlled
flight plans in their embedded systems working in conjunction with on board sensors and GPS. In only a
few months, some new and highly advanced drones such as the DJI Mavic, Phantom 4 Pro and Inspire 2
have come to the market. The fast pace of drone technological innovation is tremendous.

In the recent past, UAVs were most often associated with the military, where they were used
initially for anti-aircraft target practice, intelligence gathering and then, more controversially, as weapons
platforms. Drones are now also used in a wide range of civilian roles ranging from search and rescue,
surveillance, traffic monitoring, weather monitoring and fire fighting to personal drones and business
drone-based photography, as well as videography, agriculture and even delivery services.

The integration of drones and internet of things technology has created numerous enterprise use
cases; drones working with on-ground sensor networks can help agricultural companies monitor land and
crops, energy companies’ survey power lines and operational equipment, and insurance companies
monitor properties for claims and/or policies.

With the use of drones which have been equipped with cameras, license-plate readers and even
facial-recognition software you could be able to easily and swiftly search for missing persons. This is
hoped to change the way future search missions for missing persons are conducted. The accuracy and
timely nature of drones advocate for the establishment of such a use of this convenient and fast
technology.

Besides, a drone equipped with an HD camera is going to be a great novelty to your existing
filming arsenal. The ability of the drones to reach places where reporters cannot reach has heightened
their use in the world of journalism. Aerial footage for live broadcast is becoming increasingly useful
these days. This idea has given the movie industry a completely new look and some of the names that
come up when we talk about filmography with drones which are James Bond’s Skyfall and the evergreen
Harry Potter.

Any system has advantage and disadvantage and drones cannot be exceptional. Hackers can
easily attack the main control system of the drones, replacing the original users as the new drivers or
controllers of the device. The network and control systems of drones contain vital information that is
essential for hackers to sneak without the knowledge of the original user.

Furthermore, even though drones are convenient, the lifetime is shorter than the traditional
cameras that are used to capture images or any media file. The life span has an average of at least four
hours applied by most drones because the batteries designs are smaller that does not to last for more
than four hours. Users are reminded of the time whenever they use the drones.

Next, drone is easily attacked by the wild animals. When flying drones to an area that has a large
concentration of wild animals, the device is often considered as creatures. Larger flying animals such as
eagles are usually the main culprit when as they usually attack or capture drones while navigating the
atmosphere and taking important photos or videos.

In conclusion, it is undeniable that the drone brings us many advantages. It is a marvellous

creation that has paved the way for progress. Let us not point our finger at the drone for the very few
negative aspects that come with the package. Instead, we should make full use of drone to benefit
mankind.

Grandmother Selina grew up in age where everything was made by hand. She went to
school where teachers mostly used chalks and wooden boards. However, today, teachers no longer
used chock boards instead they use overhead projector. Selina used to carry a dictionary to school
every day for her English class. However today, there are fewer students carrying dictionaries
because they have an access to an Internet which help them to find the meaning of a word in less
than a minute. Technology has a tremendous impact on people’s lives as it has become part of our
daily life.

Technology allows students to access tons of information that they are interested in. Since
today’s students have an easy access to the internet, they just look up for any news that they feel
interested in. Technology has not only made learning easy, but it also has trained students to
improve technological skill for the future where everything is going to be electronic. Besides, e-
learning is a relatively new concept where students make use of internet technology to download
important study materials in the form of text, audio and videos.

Technology has made our lives so much easier and comfortable. Everything that we see and
use in our daily life is the gift of technology. For example, we do not have to go to a bank to deposit
checks because people can do this by simply uploading a check in their bank’s mobile application.
Also, technology has provided us with Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) system to travel without
getting lost or asking for help even cars are being made with GPS system which help drivers to
comfortably drive wherever they want to.

Furthermore, technology keeps people to keep in touch with loves one. People are able to
communicate with each other even though they are far away. For example, the presence of Internet
have offers easy and inexpensive ways to communicate such as email, messenger, chatting and
others. Moreover, the Internet also saves times as messages can be delivered in a matter of seconds.
Today, we do not need to go to the post office to post a letter in order to contact family of friends.
Snail mail has become history.

As technology develops, I believe that for every advantage that technology brings us, it also
brings us a disadvantage at the same time. Modern technology has replaced many humans as robots
are doing the jobs which used to be done by humans. Many packing firms have employed robots on
production lines to increase production and efficiency. This is good news for businesses because it
helps them make more money and serve customers in time, but it is bad news to employees
because they get replaced by a robot.

Apart from that, too much use of technology has resulted in an increase in waste products
into the environment. This has caused pollution. The discharge of industrial wastes into the
environment diminishes the quality of soil, water, air and others. The vehicle emission is among
major causes of air pollution. Excessive use of pesticides in farming has caused soil erosion. This will
provide unhealthy surrounding for people to live in as they might suffered some diseases due the
pollution that occurred.

In conclusion, technology has changed in a blink of an eye. As a society, we have realized

that without technology our lives would be slow-paced. People need to be up to date with the
technology because that is what the future holds for us. In few years from now, we well depend on
technology to survive since it is becoming a part of our lives.
