The Legal Area of MassMutual is planning to sunset their legacy system ‘Team Connect’ and replace it with an Enterprise
Legal Management System ‘ONIT’ which has better capabilities, functions and flexible workflows.
Onit implementation will enable the Legal team of MassMutual to effectively use the technology, legal spend
management, and will help Mass Mutual Attorneys to respond to their cases for and against MassMutual in a timely and
coordinated manner. The implementation will include an integrated solution that synchronizes legal processes such as:

Aetna acquired another company for processing consumer fund products to increase their market presence in middle
market and national accounts which led to changes to their existing operating model. Aetna decided to migrate the
consumer fund products for small group market from existing platform to a new platform leading to the changes in the
current operating model and integrating with the new systems. The processes primarily impacted were Enrollment,
Claims and Billing. Aetna also decided to outsource its check printing and distribution activities for consumer fund
products to another printing vendor leading to the changes in the current operating model and integrating with new
vendor for exchange of information.
As Project Manager for this project being managed under Waterfall model, I was responsible for managing a team of
around 20 resources (including both from Aetna and Vendor) and overseeing end to end implementation.

Care Management for Medicare Consumer Business


This was a strategic initiative to improve speed to market and enhance care management for the patients enrolled in
Medicare business. As a part of this business process reengineering initiative all the existing and new sub processes in
Care Management were identified and future state process flows were created with inputs from the business SMEs.
Being managed under Agile (SAFe) methodology, high level Epics were defined for each business process and then
prioritized based on business needs. The proposed high-level architecture was defined with all the integration points
and cross program dependencies.
As a Project Manager/Scrum Master, I was responsible for end to end implementation and ensuring that the agile
processes and ceremonies are being followed.

Correction/modification of existing Y2K computation logic from the year 2020 onwards
This project aimed at fixing the existing Y2K computation logic which was expected to fallout from 2020 year onwards
due to the existing design/coding constraints. This was extremely critical to the client as it has an impact on number of
primary business processes in the healthcare value chain comprising of nearly 30 client applications.
As Project Manager I was responsible for managing a team of around 30 resources. This was a 3-month reverse
engineering initiative which required team to analyze, understand and estimate the impact across different business
processes and client applications.

‘The Hartford’ Acquisition – Transactional Document initiative for Govt-Not for Profit book of business
As a part of ‘The Hartford’ acquisition, the Govt Not for Profit and Corporate line of business were supposed to be
integrated with MassMutual Retirement services processes. This initiative accounted for identifying all the gaps in the
types of transactional documents generated by ‘The Hartford’ and integrating them with MassMutual process. This
project aimed to ensure that all the outbound documents earlier generated by ‘The Hartford’ are being accounted for
with the new MM infrastructure.

Premier Enterprise – RTC (Investment Data and Trading) – Technology Transformation/ System Integration
To meet federal and fiduciary requirements, MassMutual Retirement Services had to complete the transition and
integration activities for the newly acquired ‘The Hartford’ Group Retirement Services Government and Corporate Plans
within a short timeline. For Hartford Premier Enterprise block of business, the custodian for all the trades had to be
changed from Hartford Services Distributor (HSD) to Reliance Trust Corporation (which is currently the Custodian for
some MassMutual Plans) and new deposit and disbursement bank accounts had to be set up. This project aims to ensure
that the trade execution and settlement for Premier Enterprise block of business works with the new MM infrastructure
and all functional/system impacts are accounted for

Configurable Reporting – Transactional Documents –Process Automation/ System Integration


MassMutual started with its long-term vision of implementing a Technology strategy program which aims at
reengineering and replacing their current technology with the latest technology & tools that exist in the industry.
Configurable Reporting is one of the ten RS Strategic Technology Program tracks that aims to automate Confirms,
Transactional Documents, Campaign Emails, Plan Highlights, Fulfillment Mailings and Action Packages in electronic
email, mail and fax delivery format. Report generation needed to coincide with update of plan data and automatic
trigger of data sources to align with the new Technical strategic platform Business Information Factory (BIF)

Aimed at System integration with Siebel CRM and extending standard Smartphone (such as iPhone and Blackberry) to
the sales users and the relationship managers as a CRM tool to track their institutional leads and convert them into

Aimed at implementing an externally hosted automated presentation tool XiDocs with Business Information Factory to
automate Plans/Funds/Investments presentations which can be used by the different Retirement services groups to

This project aimed at systems integration of MassMutual Business Information Factory with the participant’s mobile app
so that information could be made available in real time through web methods

The customer Ambrose requested an integrated Single Sign-On capability through Enwisen (Ambrose 3rd party
administrator) to facilitate seamless entry into the Mass Mutual participant web site for its participating and non-

IPCA15 (Income Protection Claims Adjudication) project involved the setting up of the complete Claim Administration
System for claims of Manulife Japan. A system was required to be developed so that payable Claim benefits can be
automatically calculated when claim data and medical certificate data are input into the system, and that adjudication,
approval process and payment/ non-payment decision can be made accordingly. This project involved managing end-to-
end delivery of the project aimed at setting up the processes, functionality and technology for the Administration of
non-Death claims of Manulife Japan. In the capacity of the Product Owner/Lead Business Analyst I was responsible for
the following:

 Assist in defining the Business/IT Strategy and the roadmap for the implementation of claim processes of non-
Death Claims such as Long-Term Care, Critical Illness etc.
 Created high level business requirements and the stories for the claim processing for different lines of business
based on business priorities defined as per the roadmap

The Mutation system was developed to automate the complete Mutation Process in various Districts/ provinces of the
state. This would reduce the paper work and would add efficiency to this otherwise time-consuming process. Mutation
process comprises of all the activities that are performed in a district for the registration of a newly purchased land or
that of an existing land where the ownership of land is being transferred to some different party.

 Requirement Gathering from various government stakeholders/ users to automate the mutation process
 Intensive study of various documents that were currently being used during Mutation Process.
 Creating Use-Cases and Data Flow Diagrams to demonstrate software architecture and interaction of system
components before prototyping.
 Preparation of Functional Specifications based on the requirements gathered from the users, developing test-
case scenarios.
 Coding and Development of Mutation Process based on Functional Specification documents.
 Performing Gap analysis and designing new process flows and documenting the business process and various
business scenarios and activities of the business from the conceptual to procedural level.
 Coordinating the design and development of the backend database (Oracle).
