CHECKLIST FOR PROCUREMENT OF LOW
PRESSURE PIPING SYSTEMS
1.0 SCOPE
This check list covers a set of guide lines for procurement (supply,
fabrication, erection, testing and commissioning) of Low Pressure (LP)
piping systems of a power plant comprising water systems, oil systems,
gas systems and compressed air systems.
3.1 Check whether the type of contract is a lumpsum contract or unit rate
contract. This depends on the individual project and client.
3.3 If lumpsum contract is adopted, piping drawings for sizes NB65 and
above would be furnished and for sizes NB50 and below B.O.M would be
furnished. Unit rate would be applicable for adjustment between the as
erected piping and the Bid purpose drawings. Record copy of the bid
purpose drawings shall be preserved till completion of the contract.

3.4 If unit rate contract is adopted, the evaluation of total prices of Bidders
would be based on bill of materials specified and unit rates quoted by
Bidders. Bidder would furnish the total price based on the B.O.M. Unit
rates would however be applicable for variation beyond the quantities
specified in B.O.M.
4.1 Clearly identify nature of contract and basis for Bidding (either based on
B.O.M or piping layout drawings)
4.2 Identify items by the purchaser / others which are to be erected by piping
contracts.
4.3 Scope of piping contractor shall be clearly identified in the flow diagrams.

4.4 Generally the hanger and support design for LP piping systems is in the
scope of piping contractor. Bring out specific clause to this effect.
4.5 Add specific clause for preparation of drawings for IBR approval (where
applicable).
5.0 SECTION -D
6.1 Check whether the materials offered by Bidder are equivalent or superior
to specified materials.
6.2 Check whether the pipe outside diameter and thickness are as specified.
6.4 Check availability of vendor appraisal report. If not, call for details to
assess the Bidder.
(b) Whether all schedules including the unit rate schedule are
furnished and are complete.
(d) If bid is incomplete ask for further details from the Bidder.
If above items are to be included, data sheets & write up in Section -C and
respective standard specification are to be included.
