Question
Do AADvance and 1715 redundant I/O support HART protocol?
Answer
Two stages of HART implementation have been made in AADvance.
Release 1.2 analog input modules in AADvance can be enabled to collect HART command 3 automatically and
present the data in a structure variable. The data includes the milliamp current that the device is sending, the
equivalent engineering value with its units, and three other numbers/measurements and their units, which will
be device specific. It also has a Boolean communications status (true=OK) and a byte of device status
(working/failed etc.). This basic data is enough for a diagnostic comparison with current measurements for
calibration checks, but it should never be used for safety related logic.
Release 1.2:
Release 1.3 analog input and output modules can also provide HART Pass through. This allows a HART asset
management system to communicate through a Device Type Manager (DTM) to AADvance, and address one
HART device at a time. When a device is addressed through HART Pass through, the basic HART is disabled. The Top

DTM acts like an OPC server, talking to the AADvance processor through a proprietary protocol and providing a
tree of HART devices. HART Pass through has been tested with Rockwell Automation’s Asset Manager and
Honeywell Experion.
9431 firmware build 12 (not 13) or later. Hardware build I or later is required.
9432 firmware build 12 (not 13) or later. Hardware build F or later is required.

1715 redundant I/O HART capabilities are enabled starting with revision 3.001 (for AENTR and IO).
