Research problem

Fluency can be considered as one of the problems when studying a foreign language. As
communication is the main purpose of a language the lack of fluency can become in a problem when
communicating ideas, expressing opinions or asking for information.

Problem Statement

Context

Foreign language students at university of Nariño (semester 3, 4. 5) can feel frustrated when
communicating in other language with teachers and partners, the frustration can be a consequence
of not feeling comfortable when they’re speaking either in public or in private.

Significance

The importance of understanding the factors or experiences that are affecting students in the
process of acquiring fluency.

Purpose

The purpose of this research is to understand why students feel anxious and frustrated when they
have to speak in the language they are learning, the reasons why they prefer to stay quite than
express their opinions.

(Maybe find the correct method (all methods related to speaking) to encourage students to speak
and develop fluency)
