SGV & Co. was established in 1946. It was known as the Philippines’ largest

multidisciplinary professional services firm with 9 offices nationwide, and with over 6,000

professionals from various disciplines. Among professional services firms, they are ranked first

in Audit services and Tax services. They offer deep competencies in assurance, tax, transaction

advisory and advisory services. In terms of their advisory, their vision is to become global

transformation Advisors, and their purpose is to build a better world… nurture leaders and

enable business to help in nation building.

They focused on their cybersecurity practice. Their cybersecurity was the most

aggressive, and at the same time, fastest expanding and growing practice of their advisory. SGV

cyber involves a holistic approach, where a multi-disciplinary skillset is needed in order to

succeed.

Now that we have an easy access on technology, most of us want to take advantage of the

technical knowledge in many ways like taking advantage on downloading free software where

little did we know, this might have a detrimental effects on our privacy and might stole our

important files through malware and viruses.

SGV & Co. provides us on understanding how malware works, or how they were

triggered, which they can do number of things like accessing our files without us knowing that

those will happen. The malwares that they tackled about was the virus, worm, trojan,

ransomware, adware, spyware, rootkit and keylogger. These malwares were designed to cause

damage to a stand-alone computer or a networked pc.

So, for us to prevent those malware attacks, the using of antivirus in our computer would

be a big help from those attacks and hacks. We should be careful in browsing online because
malware can be found anywhere and can’t expect when it will come. We should avoid suspicious

websites, links, and emails, and install an anti-virus or anti-malware software. Installing some

form of cybersecurity software is also a useful means of protecting against many forms of attack.

Prevention is better than cure and this definitely applies to malware infections. It’s best to arm

yourself with knowledge on how to avoid malware attacks and prevent your systems from being

infected.

Since we are still a student, who some of us wants to work in famous SGV & Co., might

have a career and future in their company. They were more than the accounting and auditing

firm. They are not only accepting employees that have a degree in accounting or information

technology. They can accept someone who is willing to learn and have a passion in their

industry. Its really helpful to us that SGV gave us a seminar about cybersecurity. We’ve learned

a lot and also, we experienced being an ethical hacker through a game. They gave us insights and

knowledge about what they are working on, and that makes us inspired that if you are willing to

learn, no matter what field is that, you will be a successful someday.
