SERVICE CHAPTER
This manual is designed to ensure correct use and operation of EPX model diagnostic x-ray units. Please
read all the lines thoroughly before you use the equipment.
Incorrect use and operation exceeding described conditions in this manual may cause damage of the
equipment and shorten its life. Particular attention must be paid to all the warnings, cautions and notes
incorporated herein.
This equipment should be used only by the legally qualified persons and practitioners.
Regarding the AC cable and software, only the ones developed and supplied by Ecotron Co., Ltd should be
used.
Only trained maintenance staff may remove the covers of the x-ray system.
Do not modify the equipment at your discretion and in case any modification is required unavoidably, ask the
help of Ecotron or its authorized dealer for the service.
Information for repair will be provided by Ecotron. (Circuit diagram, Component part list, descriptions,
Calibration instructions, or other information)
No responsibility is taken by Ecotron for any infringement of patients or other rights of the third parties which
many results from the use of this manual.
NOTE: If the output calibration is needed after periodical inspections or repairs, please observe following rules
and methods described in this manual.

1. CALIBRATION
1.1 EPX-F1600
j. Set the kV and the mAs at 90 KV and 5 mAs (16 mA), respectively.
k. Then observe the KV waveform of the oscilloscope channel 2.
l. If it is not 4.5 V, adjust KV by turning VR3 on the OP board.
Where, C00~C09 are calibration code of tube current at AC110V model and C10~C19 are calibration code of
tube current at AC220V model.
C00 or C10 is calibration code of tube current (30mA at 40kV~50kV) at AC110V or AC220V and 30.0 is
calibration data of tube current (30mA at 40kV~50kV).
Where, C01 or C11 is calibration code of tube current (25mA at 40kV~50kV) and 25.0 is calibration data of
tube current (25mA at 40kV~50kV).
This is preheating filament for making tube current. The overshooting or the undershooting may occur from
the tube current if the Preheat calibration data is set by mistake. Changing the calibration data is possible in
accordance with the tube condition.
Where, P00~P07 are calibration code of filament preheat current at AC110V, P08~P15 are calibration code of
filament preheat current at AC220V, P00 or P08 is Filament preheat calibration code (Preheat calibration code
of 30mA), and 1.50 or 1.40 is Filament preheat calibration data (Preheat calibration data of 30mA).
g. Adjust data by using the mAs Up-Down switch (see operation sheet).
h. After it is adjusted, push the STORE button during 3sec(see operation sheet).
i. DIP SWITCH #4 on the PCB OP BOARD is set to OFF position then expose X-ray.
j. If overshooting or undershooting occurs in the waveform, set the calibration data again.
k. Then push the KV UP switch (see operation sheet).
l. The display should indicate as follows,
Where, P01 or P09 is Filament preheat calibration code (Preheat calibration code of 25mA) and 1.45 or 1.35
is Filament preheat calibration data (Preheat calibration data of 25mA).
m. Adjust data by using the mAs Up-Down switch on the Control Panel.
n. After it is adjusted, push the Store switch during 3sec(see operation sheet).
o. DIP SWITCH #4 on the PCB OP BOARD is set to OFF position then exposure X-ray.
p. If overshooting or undershooting occurs in the waveform, set the calibration data again.
1.2 EPX-F2400
j. Set the kV and the mAs at 100 KV and 5 mAs (20 mA), respectively.
k. Then observe the KV waveform of the oscilloscope channel 2.
l. If it is not 5 V, adjust KV by turning VR3 on the OP board.
Where, C00~C07 are calibration code of tube current at AC110V model and C08~C15 are calibration code of
tube current at AC220V model.
C00 or C08 is calibration code of tube current (40mA at 40kV~60kV) at AC110V or AC220V and 40.0 is
calibration data of tube current (40mA at 40kV~60kV).
Where, C01 or C09 is calibration code of tube current (35mA at 40kV~60kV) and 35.0 is calibration data of
tube current (35mA at 40kV~60kV).
This is preheating filament for making tube current. The overshooting or the undershooting may occur from

g. Adjust data by using the mAs Up-Down switch (see operation sheet).

o. DIP SWITCH #4 on the PCB OP BOARD is set to OFF position then exposure X-ray.
p. If overshooting or undershooting occurs in the waveform, set the calibration data again.
1.3 EPX-F2800
j. Set the kV and the mAs at 120 KV and 5 mAs (16 mA), respectively.
k. Then observe the KV waveform of the oscilloscope channel 2.
l. If it is not 6 V, adjust KV by turning VR3 on the OP board.
Where, C00~C15 are calibration code of tube current at AC110V model and C16~C31 are calibration code of
tube current at AC220V model.
C00 or C16 is calibration code of tube current (40mA at 40kV~60kV) at AC110V or AC220V and 40.0 is
calibration data of tube current (40mA at 40kV~60kV).
Where, C01 or C17 is calibration code of tube current (30mA at 61kV~70kV) and 30.0 is calibration data of
tube current (30mA at 61kV~70kV).
This is preheating filament for making tube current. The overshooting or the undershooting may occur from
the tube current if the Preheat calibration data is set by mistake. Changing the calibration data is possible in
accordance with the tube condition.

1.4 EPX-F3200
Where, C00~C07 are calibration code of tube current at AC110V model and C08~C15 are calibration code of
tube current at AC220V model. C00 or C08 is calibration code of tube current (60mA at 40kV~50kV) at
AC110V and 60.0 is calibration data of tube current (60mA at 40kV~50kV).
Where, C01 or C09 is calibration code of tube current (50mA at 51kV~60kV) and 50.0 is calibration data of
tube current (50mA at 51kV~60kV).
This is preheating filament for making tube current. The overshooting or the undershooting may occur from
the tube current if the Preheat calibration data is set by mistake. Changing the calibration data is possible in
accordance with the tube condition.
Where, P00~P05 are calibration code of filament preheat current at AC110V, P06~P11 are calibration code of
filament preheat current at AC220V, P00 or P06 is Filament preheat calibration code (Preheat calibration code
of 60mA), and 1.65 or 1.65 is Filament preheat calibration data (Preheat calibration data of 60mA).
g. Adjust data by using the mAs Up-Down switch (see operation sheet).
h. After it is adjusted, push the STORE button during 3sec(see operation sheet).
i. DIP SWITCH #4 on the PCB OP BOARD is set to OFF position then expose X-ray.
j. If overshooting or undershooting occurs in the waveform, set the calibration data again.
k. Then push the KV UP switch (see operation sheet).
l. The display should indicate as follows,

m. Adjust data by using the mAs Up-Down switch on the Control Panel.
n. After it is adjusted, push the Store switch during 3sec(see operation sheet).
o. DIP SWITCH #4 on the PCB OP BOARD is set to OFF position then exposure X-ray.
p. If overshooting or undershooting occurs in the waveform, set the calibration data again.
1.5 EPX-F4000
j. Set the kV and the mAs at 110KV and 5mAs (25mA), respectively.
k. Then observe the KV waveform of the oscilloscope channel 2.
l. If it is not 5.5V, adjust KV by turning VR3 on the OP board.
Where, C00~C14 are calibration code of tube current at AC110V model and C15~C29 are calibration code
of tube current at AC220V model. C00 or C15 is calibration code of tube current (80mA at 50kV) at 80.0 is
calibration data of tube current (80mA at 50kV).
Where, C01 or C16 is calibration code of tube current (70mA at 50kV) and 70.0 is calibration data of tube
current (70mA at 50kV).
This is preheating filament for making tube current. The overshooting or the undershooting may occur from
the tube current if the Preheat calibration data is set by mistake. Changing the calibration data is possible in
accordance with the tube condition.
Where, P00~P09 are calibration code of filament preheat current at AC110V, P10~P19 are calibration code of
filament preheat current at AC220V, P00 or P10 is Filament preheat calibration code (Preheat calibration code
of 80mA), and 2.50 or 2.50 is Filament preheat calibration data (Preheat calibration data of 80mA).
g. Adjust data by using the mAs Up-Down switch (see operation sheet).
h. After it is adjusted, push the STORE button during 3sec (see operation sheet).
i. DIP SWITCH #4 on the PCB OP BOARD is set to OFF position then expose X-ray.
j. If overshooting or undershooting occurs in the waveform, set the calibration data again.
k. Then push the KV UP switch (see operation sheet).
l. The display should indicate as follows,
Where, P01 or P11 is Filament preheat calibration code (Preheat calibration code of 70mA) and 2.20 or 2.20
is Filament preheat calibration data (Preheat calibration data of 70mA).
m. Adjust data by using the mAs Up-Down switch on the Control Panel.
n. After it is adjusted, push the Store switch during 3sec(see operation sheet).
o. DIP SWITCH #4 on the PCB OP BOARD is set to OFF position then exposure X-ray.
p. If overshooting or undershooting occurs in the waveform, set the calibration data again.
1.6 EPX-F5000
j. Set the kV and the mAs at 110KV and 5mAs (40mA), respectively.
k. Then observe the KV waveform of the oscilloscope channel 2.
l. If it is not 5.5V, adjust KV by turning VR3 on the OP board.
Where, C00~C20 are calibration code of tube current at AC110V model and C21~C41 are calibration code of
tube current at AC220V model. C00 or C21 is calibration code of tube current (100mA at 50kV) at A0.0(=100)
is calibration data of tube current (100mA at 50kV).
Where, C01 or C22 is calibration code of tube current (80mA at 50kV) and 80.0 is calibration data of tube
current (80mA at 50kV).
This is preheating filament for making tube current. The overshooting or the undershooting may occur from
the tube current if the Preheat calibration data is set by mistake. Changing the calibration data is possible in
accordance with the tube condition.
Where, P00~P08 are calibration code of filament preheat current at AC110V, P09~P15 are calibration code of
filament preheat current at AC220V, P00 or P09 is Filament preheat calibration code (Preheat calibration code
of 100mA), and 2.40 or 2.40 is Filament preheat calibration data (Preheat calibration data of 100mA).
g. Adjust data by using the mAs Up-Down switch (see operation sheet).
h. After it is adjusted, push the STORE button during 3sec(see operation sheet).
i. DIP SWITCH #4 on the PCB OP BOARD is set to OFF position then expose X-ray.
j. If overshooting or undershooting occurs in the waveform, set the calibration data again.
k. Then push the KV UP switch (see operation sheet).
l. The display should indicate as follows,

is Filament preheat calibration data (Preheat calibration data of 80mA).
m. Adjust data by using the mAs Up-Down switch on the Control Panel.
n. After it is adjusted, push the Store switch during 3sec (see operation sheet).
o. DIP SWITCH #4 on the PCB OP BOARD is set to OFF position then exposure X-ray.
p. If overshooting or undershooting occurs in the waveform, set the calibration data again.
For normal operation, only the DIP SW#1 must be set to OFF position.
There are two ways to use the hand switch to get the exposure.
a. Press and hold the Switch #1 for longer than 1 second, which will get the “Prep or Ready” status on, then
press Switch #2 to get the “Exposure”.
b. Press and hold the Switch #1 and Switch #2 simultaneously for longer than 1 second. This action will result
in “Prep or Ready” status and “Exposure” at the same time.

For normal operation, only the DIP SW#1 must be set to ON position.
DIP SWITCH #4 on the OP BOARD PCB is set to ON position.
Then the display should indicate as follows,

1) Turn on AC switch
Measured Voltage
If it is fail case
4) 50kV/5mAs waveform
Please set kV, mAs below table and take exposure
Exposure condition : 40kV/5mAs
CH 1: kV 2V/div CH 2: mA 2V/div 40msec/div
5) 80kV/5mAs waveform
Please set kV, mAs below table and take exposure
Exposure condition : 80kV/5mAs
CH 1: kV 2V/div CH 2: mA 2V/div 100msec/div
6) 110kV/5mAs waveform
Please set kV, mAs below table and take exposure
Exposure condition : 110kV/5mAs
CH 1: kV 2V/div CH 2: mA 2V/div 100msec/div
If AC power is under 100V or 200VAC, you have below abnormal waveform. Error 015,016,017,018 is
occurred by poor AC power.
4) kV / mA PWM frequency
CH CH 1 mA PWM CH 2 kV PWM
Measured frequency
For normal operation, only the DIP SW#1 must be set to ON position.
DIP SWITCH #4 on the OP BOARD PCB is set to ON position.
Then the display should indicate as follows,
1) Turn on AC switch.

3) Turn on AC switch.
4) In mA calibration mode, Press the number 1 switch as shown in figure. Mode is converted.
