Śrī Pratya Girā Ātmarak A Ā Mantra
1. Viniyogaḥ (विनियोगः) :-
asya śrī pratyaṅ girā mahā mantrasya । mahā bhairava ṛṣiḥ ।
श्रीप्रत्यङ्गिरा देवतायै
Open index, middle and ring fingers of the

śrīpratyaṅ girā devatā yai नमः हृदये right hand and place them on the heart
namaḥ hṛdaye
chakra.
4 hrīm̐ bījā yai namaḥ guhye ह्री ँ बीजायै नमः गह्य
ु े Touch the private parts area with the ring,
middle and thumb fingers of the right
hand joined together at the top.
स्वाहा कीलकायै नमः Touch the navel with the ring, middle and
6 svā hā kīlakā yai namaḥ nā bhau thumb fingers of the right hand joined
नाभौ together at the top.
hrīm̐ namaḥ kaṇ ṭhā di ह्री ँ नमः कण्ठादि Run the fingers of both hands from the

nā bhyā ntaṃ नाभ्यान्तं throat to the navel.
śrīm̐ namaḥ mū rdhā di श्री ँ नमः मर्धा Run the fingers of both hands from the

kaṇ ṭhā ntaṃ
ू दि कण्ठान्तं face to the throat.
ऐँ नमः वाम पाणीतले Run the right fingers on the left hand
11 aim̐ namaḥ vā ma pā ṇ ītale
palm.
ह्री ँ नमः दक्षपाणि तले Run the left fingers on the right hand
12 hrīm̐ namaḥ dakṣapā ṇ i tale
palm.
śrīm̐ nama: ubhayapā ṇ ītalau श्री ँ नम: उभयपाणीतलौ Run the opposite side fingers on the back

(ubhayoḥ ) side of each palm.

3. karanyāsaḥ (करन्यासः) :-
ॐ ऐँ अङ्गष्ठु ाभ्यां नमः Use both the index fingers and run
1 om̐ aim̐ aṅ guṣṭhā bhyā ṃ namaḥ
them on both the thumbs.
ॐ ह्री ँ तर्जनीभ्यां नमः Use both the thumbs and run them on
2 om̐ hrīm̐ tarjanībhyā ṃ namaḥ
both the index fingers.
om̐ śrīm̐ madhyamā bhyā ṃ ॐ श्री ँ मध्यमाभ्यां नमः Use both the thumbs on the middle

namaḥ fingers.
4 pratyaṅ gire anā mikā bhyā ṃ प्रत्यङ्गिरे अनामिकाभ्यां Use both the thumbs on the ring
namaḥ fingers.

मम रक्ष रक्ष मम शत्रनू ्
mama rakṣa rakṣa mama śatrū n
भक्ष भक्ष कनिष्ठिकाभ्यां Use both the thumbs on the little
5 bhakṣa bhakṣa kaniṣṭhikā bhyā ṃ
fingers.

Open both the palms; run the opened
om̐ svā hā ॐ स्वाहा palms of the right hand on the front and

karatalakarapṛṣṭhā bhyā ṃ namaḥ करतलकरपष्ठृ ाभ्यां नमः back sides of the left palm and repeat
the same for the other palm.
Meaning:- I meditate upon on the Divine Mother Śrī Pratyaṅ girā , dark as the night sky with Her hair loosened
and wavy. She is clothed by the vast deep space and is enormous. She holds a sword and a shield in Her
hands and is decorated with ornaments around Her arms. She has enormous diamond like teeth and a very wide
gaping mouth. She takes in all the negative and inimical forces and frees us from all karmas impacting our
progress. Glory be to the Divine Mother, Who shines with the spiritual energy of Lord Śaṅ kara/Śiva.
6. Pañcapūjā (पञ्चपूजा) :-
Recite the below mantra once, to pray to the japa mā la and invoke the blessings for a fruitful japa.
oṃ mā ṃ mā le mahā mā ye sarvamantra svarū piṇ i।
caturvarga stvayinyasta stasmā nye siddhidā bhava॥
om̐ aim̐ hrīm̐ śrīm̐ pratyaṅgire mama rakṣa rakṣa mama śatrūn bhakṣa
bhakṣa om̐ svāhā ॥
ॐ ऐ ँ ह्री ँ श्री ँ प्रत्यङ्गिरे मम रक्ष रक्ष मम शत्रून् भक्ष भक्ष ॐ स्वाहा ॥
Meaning:- The bīja (seed mantra) om̐ represents auspiciousness and is the śabda brahman or the
Superconsciousness manifested as sound. The vā gbhā va bīja (seed mantra) aim̐, represents all knowledge,
spiritual and material. The mā yā bīja (seed mantra) hrīm̐ represents manifestation of everything as the power of
Creation, sustenance as the power of Preservation and transformation as the power of Destruction. It is also
related to concentration, focus, energy, drive, self-esteem, high power and is the main śakti mantra. The Lakṣmī
bīja (seed mantra) śrīm̐, represents abundance, wealth, well-being and prosperity.
This mantra is a prayer to the Goddess Śrī Pratyaṅ girā , asking Her to come to our rescue and remove all
negative energies and inimical forces acting upon us and also to free us from all bad karma and help with our
well-being.
10. aṅganyāsaḥ (अङ्गन्यासः)
मम रक्ष रक्ष मम शत्रनू ् भक्ष भक्ष Touch the eyes with the right index
mama rakṣa rakṣa mama śatrū n bhakṣa
5 and ring fingers, with the middle
bhakṣa netratrayā ya vauṣaṭ नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट् finger touching the ā jña cakra.
lam̐ - pṛthivyā tmikā yai Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange
लँ - पृथिव्यात्मिकायै गन्धं समर्पयामि of the little fingers of both hands with the
1 gandhaṁ samarpayā mi
upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of
the hand facing us.
ham̐ - ā kā śā tmikā yai puṣpaiḥ Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange
हँ - आकाशात्मिकायै पष्ु पैः पजू यामि of the thumbs of both hands with the upper
2 pū jayā mi
tip/nails of the index fingers, with the back
of the hand facing us.
yam̐ - vā yvā tmikā yai Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange
यँ - वाय्वात्मिकायै धपू माघ्रापयामि of the index fingers of both hands with the
3 dhū pamā ghrā payā mi
upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of
the hand facing us.
ram̐ - agnyā tmikā yai dīpaṁ Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange
रँ - अग्न्यात्मिकायै दीपं दर्शयामि of the middle fingers of both hands with
4 darśayā mi
the upper tip of the thumbs, with the back
of the hand facing us.
vam̐ - amṛtā tmikā yai amṛtaṁ वँ - अमृतात्मिकायै अमृतं महानैवेद्यं Hold the lower tip of the bottom phalange
mahā naivedyaṁ nivedayā mi | निवेदयामि। of the ring fingers of both hands with the

upper tip of the thumbs, with the back of
the hand facing us.
sam̐ - sarvā tmikā yai Hold the fingers of each palm in a folded
सँ - सर्वात्मिकायै सर्वोपचार पजू ाम् manner with the tips of each fingers of
sarvopacā ra pū jā m समर्पयामि
6 samarpayā mi both hands touching each other and the
thumbs facing the heart, in a Namaste
position.
13. Samarpaṇam (समर्पणम)् :- Take water in uttaraṇ i[CM1] and by reciting the following śloka, offer the water to
the earth.
guhyā tiguhyagoptrī tvaṁ gṛhā ṇ ā smat-kṛtaṁ japam।
siddhirbhavatu me devi tvatprasā dā nmayi sthirā ॥
गह्य
ु ातिगह्यु गोप्त्री त्वं गृहाणास्मात्कृ तं जपम।्
सिद्धिर्भवतु मे देवि त्वत्प्रसादान्मयि स्तिरा॥
14.japānaṃtaraṃ mālāmantraṃ (जपानंतरं मालामन्त्रं) :-
Recite the below śloka and mantra, followed by placing the mā la upon the top of the head and then place it back
in the mā la bag and conceal it. It should NOT be worn.
śloka॥ oṃ tvaṃ mā le sarvadevā nā ṃ prītidā śubhadā bhava।
