Excel is a spreadsheet program in the Microsoft Office system. You can use Excel
to create and format workbooks (a collection of spreadsheets) in order to analyze
data and make more informed business decisions. Specifically, you can use Excel
to track data, build models for analyzing data, write formulas to perform
calculations on that data, pivot the data in numerous ways, and present data in a
variety of professional looking charts.

ART OF MS EXCEL SCREEN

1. Title bar – contains names of the program or filename

2. Quick access toolbars

3. Tabs/tabs

4. Ribbons

5. Formula bar-bar top of the excel window, use to enter or edit values
formula in a cell

6. Name box-indicates the location or an active cell

7. Column header- start with letter A up to letter XF

8. Row header- start with number 1 up to 1048576

9. Cell or active cells- a rectangular highlight that indicates the active cell

10.Grid lines-serves as imaginary lines guidelines

11.Cell pointer - it is the fat cross appears on the worksheet

12.Sheet tab- another worksheet

13.Worksheet-work area

14.Status bar- shows if the numeric key is active or not

15.Page break- dotted line end of the page

Font Group

Font - Change the font Face Underline – Underline the selected


Font Size – Changing the Font Size text.
Increase font size Border- outside line
Decrease font size Fill color- make text look like the
highlighter pen
Bold – Make the selected text bold. Font Color- Change the text color.
Italic – Italicized the selected text.

Alignment group

Top align- align text at the top of the cell


Middle align - align text so that is centered between at the top & bottom of the
cell
Bottom align- align text at the bottom of the cell
Orientation—rotate text to a diagonal angle or vertical orientation
Wrap text- make text multiple lines in a cell
Align text left
Center
Align text right
Decrease indent
Increase indent
Merge and center- it combines two or more selected cells

Number group

Currency style –monetary unit or


symbol that be apply before and
after typing
Percent Style - display the value of
the cell as percentage.
Comma style- separator that can be apply before and after typing
Increase decimal- show more precise values by showing more decimal values
Decrease decimal- show less precise values showing fewer decimal values.

Editing Group
AutoSum-use in automatic summation of total number

Sort and filter

Sort A-Z -arrange letter from A-Z, for the number from
smallest to largest.
Sort Z-A-for the number from largest to smallest

Equal sign –use in creating formula

Formula- is an equation that perform calculation on the data its start with equal
sign
Clear-delete every on a cell or selectively remove the
formatting

Fill
Series-automatic numbering and skip containing of numbers
