Absurdity
the quality or state of being ridiculous or unreasonable
Allusion
an expression designed to call something to mind without mentioning it directly; an indirect or passing
reference.
Anecdote
a short amusing or interesting story about a real incident or person

something that has happened to you, a story someone has told you, or
something you have seen/read

Irony
using language or tone of voice that would normally signify the opposite of what is intended, typically for
humorous effect
Black Humour
treating something that is serious or sad with humour
Caricature
a picture, description, or imitation of a person in which certain striking characteristics are exaggerated in
order to create a comic effect
Oxymoron
a figure of speech in which opposite terms appear together
Parody
an imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist, or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect
Pun
a joke that plays with the different possible meanings of a word, or the fact that there are words which
sound alike but have different meanings
Meme
an image, video, or piece of text that is copied and spread rapidly by Internet users, often with slight
variations, and usually humorous in nature
Sarcasm
the use of irony to mock or convey dislike or disrespect
Satire
the use of humour, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticise people's stupidity or faults. Often
used in commentary of politics and other social issues
Reduction
Used in satire. Presenting a person or group as something ‘low’, such as an animal or a child, or giving
them ridiculous or embarrassing qualities
Skit
a short comedy sketch or piece of humorous writing, especially a parody
Slapstick
comedy based on deliberately clumsy actions and embarrassing events
