Multiplexer & DE Multiplexer

A multiplexer is a device that selects one of several analog or digital input signals and forwards the selected input into a single line. It has multiple data inputs, a single output, and a selection line that determines which input is directed to the output. Multiplexing is commonly used to combine multiple signals over the same transmission channel by sending the signals in rapid sequence over time slots.

Multiplexer & DE multiplexer

Multiplexer mean (many into one) . It is a device

that allows digital information from several sources
to be routed onto a single line for transmission over
that line to a common destination .

The basic multiplexer has several data-input lines

and single output line .
Multiplexer & DE multiplexer

the selection of particular input line is controlled

by a set of selection lines
Normally there are 2n input lines and n selection
lines whose bit combinations determine which
input is selected .
Fig. below shows n-to-1 line multiplexer .

Multiplexer
Digital signals are commonly multiplexed using
TIME DIVISION MULTIPLEXING (TDM) , in which
the multiple signals are carried over the same
channel in alternating time slots
