The first rule of Apple University is you don't talk about Apple University.
The second rule of Apple University is you don't talk about Apple University.
Unless, of course, you're the New York Times, which recently got a glimpse inside the tech giant's internal training program with
the help of unnamed sources. The program is similar to Google's forward-thinking curriculum, though more secretive and full of
fine arts metaphors.
"(Apple's internal training program) is highly secretive and rarely written about," the Times reports. "Apple employees are
discouraged from talking about the company in general, and the classes are no exception."

SCENARIO 2
As a student specializing in HRM, you have been asked to comment on the role of team building for any international
organization. Moreover you are also required to work effectively in a team situation, and you will be needed to take turns as the
team leader and team member in the organization of your choice. As a team member you are expected to make a positive
contribution for example gather information necessary for the completion of the group task etc. As a team leader you will be
expected to show leadership qualities for example monitoring performance through giving constructive feedback. Conflict may
arise naturally as the activity is happening, and how it is dealt with will be witnessed by your tutor.
Your performance will be evidenced through a witness statement signed by both tutor and learner, detailing what has been
carried out and how.
You should also assess and evaluate the teams overall effectiveness in your own words.
TASK 1 - (LO1: P1; LO2: P2, LO3: P3) (M1 AND M2) (SCENARIO 1)
You have been shortlisted for a job vacancy at a software multinational company that advertised :
“We are looking for an experienced, self-driven and motivated Team Leader to join our team! As our Team Leader,
you will be responsible for supervising, overseeing, leading, managing, rewarding and motivating our company's
teams”
Keeping in view growing competition, you are advised to present new innovative ideas of developing teams in
business by researching on some of the renowned companies like APPLE.
P1/P2) Prepare a presentation (based on your research) on features of teams at Apple, the benefits of different types of
team, and leadership qualities required for building teams.
You Should give detailed account of each of following :
a) Different types of teams that benefit Apple.
b) Benefits of team for an organization like Apple.
c) How is it ensured that a team is developed at Apple, where members possess bond and unity, linking them to one another
and team as a whole?
TO ACHIEVE M1, Explain and compare the roles of the different members of a team at Apple and how they complement each other .
TO ACHIEVE M2, compare the effectiveness and productivity of different teams mentioned in (a).
P3) You are also required to provide a document in written covering the attributes and skills you possess of a team
leader and the importance to you of adapting leadership style to suit the particular situation.
TASK 2 - (LO4:P4,P5,P6) (D1) (SCENARIO 2)
The report will require you to role play as a team leader and a team member in a selected company of your choice. You should
cover the following.
P4/5) Select any business preferably business operating internationally and produce a report demonstrating working as part of a
team towards achieving specific goals like increasing market share, increasing profitability etc. Also demonstrate working as part of
a team towards achieving specific goals, dealing with any conflict or difficult situations as a team leader
P6) Review the team’s overall effectiveness individually, together with your contribution to achieving the goals, receiving and
providing feedback to other team members. The review should incorporate the characteristics and roles within the team,
the leadership/management style of the team leaders, causes of conflict and how it was resolved.
TO ACHIEVE D1, evaluate the team’s overall effectiveness in meeting its objectives, making recommendations for improvements.
You can make justified suggestions on overall team performance such as improvements to communication, performance
monitoring, or the limitations of the team leader role to diffuse conflict within the team.
