I wholeheartedly dedicate this portfolio to God who made me
Preface
This portfolio aims to showcase the experiences I had during
my internship in Cirilo Roy Montejo National High school.
Someone said to me that “Precious stones and gems are
formed by the greatest pressures that the earth can provide”
this means that pressures or many kinds of hardships’ very
crucial to one’s growth. This is the moment where we can go
out to our comfort zone, to build our character by perseverance
and patience. This is the moment where your faith will be
tested. Like my experience as a teacher intern I can say that it
was hard but at the same time I can say that it was an amazing
experience!

Prayer
To most gracious Heavenly Father,
I thank you for your goodness, for your faithfulness. I thank you
for the life you gave me and for giving me a purpose. Thank you for
saving me and for loving me unconditionally so that I can pay it forward
to my classmates, to my students, to my CTE and to all the people that
surrounds me. Lord, it is by your grace that I’m able to perform my
responsibilities in school, to teach effectively to my students, and to
obey and submit to our supervisor and to my CTE. I give you all the
credits for my strength, for the wisdom, for the enthusiasm, for the
perseverance, and for the love that overflows so that I’ll be able to
show respect and compassion to my students.
I want to thank you also for the bond that we created inside and
outside the classroom. Thank you for the boring and exciting class
discussion. Thank you for the life of my CTE Ms. Janeth Lanzarote for
imparting her knowledge and for taking care of me during my stay in
Cirilo Roy Montejo National High School. I thank you for the life of my
students that helped me to become the right teacher for them, for
bringing out the best in me. And thank you for the opportunity to
experience all those things that helped me to build my character.
Lord, apart from you I can do nothing. Thank you for helping me
throughout my internship journey. All the praises and all the adoration
belongs to you alone. And I ask this in the mightiest name of our Lord
and saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
Philosophy of
EDUCATION
Learning is beyond its meaning. It’s not just about theories, knowledge from
books or knowledge from the teachers. It’s about how will the students apply
what they learn to the real world. I want to impart to my students wisdom
because I believe in the bible that says “Do not turn away from wisdom and she
will guard and protect you.” I want to raise students that will live a life with a
purpose. I believe that learners are like a tiny miracles of beauty like the
snowflakes, learners are unique from each other, very mysterious and are just
that they could possibly imagine. They have potentials and each has a role to play.
Learners should know that they matter, they are loved and cared. They should
know that sometimes they fail but they are not a failure. That they have room for
improvement. They should learn to love learning. They should learn to love others
values and discipline to them. I will serve as an inspiration and a role model. I will
serve as a fountain of information and I’ll teach my students to dream big and
make a difference.

Clinic
The school has a well-equipped and cheerful clinic with a qualified nurse who takes care of the health
and well-being of the students.
Cafeteria
This is the place where the students want to go because of the food. It will not be a hassle for them to
buy outside because the teachers provided their snacks. And also they used the cafeteria as the
laboratory room of TLE students who have a specialization in cookery.
Principal’s Office
The principal and other staff were located in this room. They have a busy atmosphere but at the same
time a friendly one. Without the supervision of the Principal, the school will not be in good position.
ICT Laboratory
This room was filled with computers and other things. The students need to be equipped in using
technology for them to be globally competent.
Guard House
This is the place where the guards were located and they are the one who make sure to protect the

Journal Entry Week 1
January 13-17, 2020
This week was full of knowledge. Our seminar started this week with the help of the professors
in LNU. I am blessed to hear those encouraging and full of wisdom talks of my teachers. This
week the topics if I am not mistaken were Jan. 13, 2020 Expectations from the teacher intern and
The practicum Program by Sir Ryan Destura, January 14, 2020 Smart Teacher and Work Ethics,
January 15, 2020Contextualization and Lesson Planning by SirJuvenal Bardaje , January 16,
2020, Social Graces and Job interview by Prof. Thea Ticoy and January 17, 2020 Roles and
responsibilities by Mrs. Abayan and Gender sensitive Lesson Plan by Juvenal Bardaje.
The seminar was very essential for all of us who will be deployed soon to our respective schools.
But I had a hard time in absorbing all the information because it was too much. But I thank the
teachers for their efforts and their time for sharing their knowledge and experiences so that we
can give our excellence to our Practice Teaching.
Another week of a worthwhile experience. The topics this weeks were January 20, 2020
Assessment by Marvin Quayzon, January 21, 2020
History of Education, Hiring guidelines by Sir Roberto Mangaliman, January 22, 2020 PPST by
Ms Cipriano and Gender and development, January 23, 2020 Differentiating assessment and
January 24, 2020 enhancing interaction by Mrs. Vivero and in the afternoon was the final Demo
of the selected Teacher intern by Sir Juvenal Bardaje.
I was able to comprehend all the topics because I am able to adjust and know how I will learn
more. I just listen to the speaker while taking down notes. In short period of time the speakers
were able to finish topics that were taught to us by years and I thank God because this seminar
became a review to me.
I can say that I can be productive and effective teacher intern because the school don’t limit their
resources and didn’t want us not to be ready during our OJT. I thank God for the lives of the
people behind this amazing and worthwhile event.
The whole week we practice for out Investiture program. And also we are given
time to complete our application so that we can have our practice teaching.
This week the problem was some of the teacher interns came late to school so our
time in practicing was being compromised. So we need to adjust to our time and
our supervisors’ not happy to know that the behaviour was like that.
I thank God for this time because I am able to prepare physically, mentally,
emotionally, and spiritually. Because I know I am in a battle so better be prepared.
This week was memorable because I have attended Investiture Program and I witnessed our
university President shared about his perspective about teaching and he advise us to do our part
as a Normalista. That our school is known for Integrity, Excellence, and Service so we should
embody those Values.
During this time I was excited and nervous at the same time. Because I know that it’s another
milestone for me and I am nervous because I don’t know what lies ahead.
But I thank God for His amazing grace and His peace that transcends all understanding that I’m
able to relax during those times. I don’t know what kind of school I am in, what kind of CTE I
will encounter and what kind of students I will deal with but all I know in this moment that I will
trust the Lord for whatever He will going to do and I am expectant for Him to do the amazing
things. I know there will be so much failures but I pray that I will be humble enough to admit
that I fail and learn from my failures. There’s no shortcut to success. I need to go through this
journey so that I will be strong enough to the future job that I will be having.
These are the problems or my observations I met during my first week in CRMNHS
1. The students are disrespectful to their teachers. They talk back and didn’t listen to the
teacher’s instructions.
2. Lack of interest in the topic or in school related matters
3. The students were too noisy
4. Great number of absences and tardy students
These problems created fear in me. I was shocked by the attitude of the generation today. I
wasn’t prepared for this battle. I thought that I am too vulnerable so I need to do something to
earn their respect.
During this week of observation I became excited too because I will be tested with my character
and with my responses to the problems. After seeing all these problems, I’ve realized that this is
the time to apply my knowledge and wisdom. And this is also the time that I will be more
flexible and I can show my love and compassion to my students. I am excited to accept the
challenge. And I know I will learn more because of this opportunity.
Second week of my internship. This week was so busy. I was assigned to teach already after the
observation the first week. I have passed 3 days ago my lesson plan. My CTE provided me with
the resources like the books and the curriculum guide. I am so nervous to teach because it’s my
first time to teach in the real classroom setting.
Problems encountered this week
1. In my morning class from 8:00 am to 9:00 am, which is the advisory class, I’ve observed that
some of my students go to school late
2. Some of my students doesn’t care at all. They were not paying attention to me
3. Some of my students disrespects me by talking back to me, by rolling their eyes, and by not
following my instructions
4. Some were not interested with the topic. They find the topic boring because the topic was
about theatre. So, some used their phones although it’s one of my restrictions. Some were talking
to each other.
INSIGHT
I can say that this week was challenging because I am adjusting to my own capabilities and also
to my students. It’s really hard to do everything in just 1 hour. I need to teach, to manage my
class, to be a guidance counsellor. But most of the time my time was consumed in managing my
class. I find it difficult and very disappointing because all the learnings, all the theories that I’ve
learned from studying my course I think was wasted.
REFLECTION
But when I had the time to reflect to what happened this week, I’ve realized that there is a way to
make all things work. The first thing I did was to be more personal to my students. I asked their
first names. Asked them where they from. I bond with them by the use of social media. I believe
that each person is good. I know by giving all my efforts I will earn their trusts. And also by
giving my best in teaching them the lesson.
Third week of my internship. During the second week I’ve observed that my students weren’t
interested to what I’m saying in front of them. So I have decided to change my assessment and
my strategies. And I also applied my firm and a little bit soft personality. So far, my strategies
went well. And I also enjoyed the discussion. I also saved my energy and voice because I just
facilitate them and guide them. They do all the work.
To motivate my students I made strategies to make the discussion exciting. I used rapping in
reporting, role-play with singing, painting the music, and also I allow them to make do-it-
yourself masks. And to motivate them to participate, every performance they were grouped but I
will grade them individually. To leave them with no choice and to submit to all my requirements.
I have realized that I need to be sensitive to the generation today. I need to be flexible so that I
can be an effective teacher. If I think that I’m making my best without seeing the needs of my
students, then I’m just making myself worse. I also need to be firm and be strict but with
exemptions. I need to get their trust also. But all in all, I’ve realized that the best strategy to make
my student obey and submit to me is to love them unconditionally.
This week I have built my connection with my students. I have already earned their trusts. I’m
enjoying every moment I go to their rooms and making best out of it. This week I continue the
things I’m doing like using strategies to let my students be interested in the learning process.
Problems encountered:
1. There were students who still don’t want to participate in their performances
INSIGHT
I have seen few of my students doesn’t want to be involved in their group performances. Even
though I have encouraged them in many ways. So I decided to grade them individually so that
they will feel the urgency to participate. No work, no grade that’s my rule. I need to be consistent
with my instructions and decisions so that they will be more serious about it.
REFLECTION
I became frustrated that some were not interested to learn. I cannot force them and judge them
because there were many factors that can affect their learning. My CTE once said that some of
her students go to school not to learn but just for the sake of attendance and some were not
motivated to learn because they’re already earning. Yes I understand them but I need to do my
part as a teacher. I need to challenge them. That’s why I need to threat them by telling them that
they their group activities will be graded individually, if they will not do their part they will fail
in the subject.
INSIGHT
If I will not challenge them they will stay as they were. So I need to make an effort and to be
firm enough in making my decisions. I need to be flexible in all their needs so that I can fill in
those. The students will not adjust for me, so I need to do the adjustments. And they will enjoy
learning if they see that they can really perform and learn.
Reflection
Teaching is hard but being a learner is harder. To have different subjects and different activities
at the same time is quite hard. Each subjects demand to the students, so I cannot judge them for
there were times that they can’t comply to what I ask of them. But I know that there is a saying
that “if there’s a will there’s a way”, but some of the students don’t have will because they were
bombarded with so many activities plus their different issues in their house and their issues about
themselves. As a teacher, I’ve learned that I can’t let them do what I asked them to do by just
threatening them, by being mad at the same the whole time. But I’ve found the secret and
solution to that and that is love. Loving doesn’t mean I will just allow them to do the things that
they want to do, instead I will teach them little by little and guiding them to the path. I need to be
patient with their growth and letting them know that they are making an improvement. I will let
them see that I understand them if they fail because it’s the only way to learn. By respecting
them that they’re not just students, but they’re students, who are precious and the hope of the
nation. Love is the most important recipe in teaching.
Lesson Plans w/
Instructional
Materials
This was my first lesson Plan. I never had
the chance to take photos because my
first try failed. So, I need to change my
Visual Aids.
The topic assigned to me was all about
Theatre and it’s all about reporting, so
I’ve decided to let them experience
speaking in front of their classmates.
This lesson was all about reporting but
because I’ve seen that they’re not
interested to participate and to listen so
I’ve decided to make a reporting and
performance with a twist.
This is during their brainstorming on how
they will perform their drama with a
song.

Narrative
Report
Teaching was known and considered as the noblest profession. And I agree with that
because teaching is not only about sharing ones ideas to others but it touches other aspect,
like emotional physical, mental, social and even spiritual. The job of a teacher will not
end after the whole day of class. But it continues when he or she went outside and even to
be with his or her family. I can also say that teaching was the most critical profession of
all professions. Their words that they utter and the actions that they do can affect the
growth of his or her students. The words that can either lift up a soul or can kill the hopes
Being a teacher is not a bed of roses experience. I have been there and done that because
of my teaching internship training. Before I will become a good and effective teacher I
have a process that I need to follow and should be done. I need to go to school every day
and comply all the needed requirements. I need to apply what I have learned. It requires a
lot of patience, dedication, inspiration, hard work and love just to finish the course and be
one of those teachers. One day I asked myself why I want to become a teacher. And the
joy stirs in my heart and I said to myself that I want to influence my students. I want to
generation, and during my internship journey I have seen a lot of students who forgot to
value studying. They don’t want to learn and want to get a job because they are not
patient enough to wait another years. I have also seen students that lost their moral
values. They don’t respect even their teachers. And this sight breaks my heart that I don’t
do anything to correct it. When I was studying in high school, I have this teacher who
loves to give advices to us. She said, “I know one day you will forget all the lessons that
we wad today, the only lesson that will remain is the lesson about life.” She’s true about
it because the examples and advices she gave us brought an impact to my life and it made
me the person I am today. I am not saying that we should not prioritise education, but the
more we value life the more we understand that we need to be educated to have a better
life.
During my internship in Cirilo Roy Montejo National High School, at first I am afraid
because I don’t know what will happen. But as I have seen and experienced to be a
teacher I started to love it. I have experienced a lot of failure and disappointments, but it
gave me the courage to go move forward and continue learning. I learned to be flexible
with my students. I have learned that my students will not adjust for me but I need to
adjust for them. In the classroom, I am not the boss but I am a servant for their learning. I
need to assess which method that suits for them, what kind of personality they like so that
they can perform well and enjoy learning. I should give up my own self just to give them
what they need. I have learned that love matters most in teaching. Without love I don’t
think that learning will be fun and memorable. Without love what I teach and I will be
teaching will be nothing. The student s will obey you not because you’re strict but they
will follow you wholeheartedly if they will see your heart for them and for teaching. I
have experienced it first-hand so I guarantee that that’s the best method and strategy to let
I have many things to accomplish to become a good and effective teacher. And this
experience is one of the stepping stone for me to be there. I am grateful for the
experiences that I had because it corrects my wrong perspective about teaching. It also
learn and I am willing to experience all that just to gain wisdom from it. I am happy that I
survived by the grace of God and I have created relationships with my students and still it
I hope that my experiences in my internship will not be put to waste and as time goes by I
hope I will improve my skills in teaching and improve my character so that if the time is
right and if God wills then I will be the perfect teacher for my students.
