By Sheikh Harith Al-Shiraida

TOPIC NOTES
Importance of Having  I'zzah = Honor/ Power/ Might
I'zzah (Honor)  It's important to look at the characteristics of Izzah in Islam to know how
we should carry this Deen
 Whoever return away from this Deen, Allah will replace them with a
people with people He loves; One of the characteristics of the people of
He loves is the ones who has I'zzah

"O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his religion - Allah
will bring forth [in place of them] a people He will love and who will love Him
[who are] humble toward the believers, powerful (i'zzah) against the
disbelievers; they strive in the cause of Allah and do not fear the blame of a
critic. That is the favor of Allah ; He bestows it upon whom He wills. And Allah is
all-Encompassing and Knowing." [Al-Maidah:54]

The Types of I’zzah  I'zzah can be two types - 1) Praiseworthy and 2) Blameworthy
(Part 1)  I'zzah that came from Allah is praiseworthy
 The blameworthy I'zzah are the I'zzah that the people gave themselves
 A worse I'zzah is believing that the false God has given them the I'zzah

"A'li (radiallahuanhu) said: The one who speaks fahisha (things against Syariah)
and the ones who choose to sit and listen to it then they'll share the same sins"
[Saheeh Hadith]

The Types of I’zzah  Another blameworthy I'zzah is the I'zzah of the Kuffar
(Part 2)  If you don't make ingkar but you join it, then you're validating it
 If we try to seek honor from the Kuffar, the Allah will humiliate us; The
true I'zzah is only with Allah subhanahutaa'la

The Types of I’zzah  Another false I'zzah is the I'zzah in their family or family's history
(Part 3)  This kind of I'zzah can refrain someone from accepting the truth due to
the custom practice of their family or ancestors

The 2 Types of Pride  There are "Pride" that is allowed and is forbidden
 Those who have pride in things that they did'nt choose to be in - this is
forbidden
 Pride is allowed when it comes to being a Muslim
 Having I'zzah as a Muslim means that you're not afraid of anything
except Allah!

you to that which gives you life. And know that Allah intervenes between a man
and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered." [Al-Anfal:24]

My Sunnah My Life  Happiness in this life will NEVER be attained unless we live the sunnah.
(Part 3)  How and where do we begin our journey on following the sunnah:-
1. Begin with the heart - means to build the love for the Prophet ‫ﷺ‬
How to build the love? Is to get to know him. Learn the Seerah.
Then ask yourself do you love him above yourself? If yes, ask why?

2. Then once you love the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬is to learn what is the Sunnah so
you can begin implementing it.

 Always be optimistic and say "AlhamduLilah" because what ever bad

happen, it can be worse.
 Whatever happen in this world, it can be fixed and it's temporary; But
whatever happen in the hereafter then it's the end and you can't turn
back to fix it.
