I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. identify different types of memory and storage drives, and their functions;
2. compare memory and storage drives; and
3. measure the capacity of storage drives.
A-1. Prayer
A-2. Greetings
A-3. Checking of the attendance
A-4. Review
What do you call 1 & O in binary?
So, when I have 8 bits how do you call it?
Can you give a quantity of byte?
Show your answers through this chart.
Quantities of Bytes
B. Motivation
I will group you in to two the left side and the right-side group. Please answer the following
question.
From all these latest Smartphone models what do you think is the best quality of a smart
phone? Or the best thing that you consider the most when you buy a smart phone?
C. Activity
PRE – TEST
Direction. Match items on Column A with Column B. Write your answers on a separate sheet of
paper.
Column A Column B
1. The storage space in the computer, where data is to
be processed and instructions required for processing a. Optical Drive
are stored.
b. External Flash Drive
2. Storage medium that permanently stores data on
personal computers (PCs) and other electronic devices. c. Hard Drive
3. The temporary storage for data and programs that d. Storage Drive
are being accessed by the CPU.
4. Read or write information on magnetic or optical e. Floppy Drive
storage media.
5. A storage device that uses removable 3.5-inch f. Random access memory
floppy disks.
6. A magnetic storage device that is installed inside
g. Read-only memory
the computer.
7. A storage device that uses lasers to read data on the
optical media. h. Computer memory
8. A removable storage device that connects to a USB
port. I. USB
D. Analysis
What is memory?
What are the types of memory and their functions?
What is storage drive?
What are the types of storage drives and their functions?
Okay, Optical Drive belongs to what?
Random Access Memory is an example of what?
Differentiate the memory and storage drive.
E. Abstraction
Give me the types of memory.
What is the function of Random-Access Memory and Read-Only Memory?
What is the storage drive?
Give me one type of storage drive and its function.
F. Application
Direction: For 10 minutes, check the capacity of the storage device that will be assigned to
your group and answer the question through a drawing.
“If you have a storage drive like what you are holding, how will you use it?”
G. Generalization
1. What are the types of memory?
2. What are the types of storage drive?
3. Wat is the difference between memory and storage drive?
H. Values Integration
Many computer users consider memory and storage drives to be the same thing.
Computer performs operations by accessing data stored in its short-term memory, and
the speed and performance of your system depends on the amount of memory that is
installed on your computer. However, storage allows you to access and store your
applications, operating system and files for an indefinite period of time. These are two
of the most important components in the computer. Without them, the user cannot
store data and even send instructions. There are two types of memory: RAM and
ROM. And there are four types of storage drives: Hard Drive, External Flash Drive,
Optical Drive, and Floppy Drive.
IV. Evaluation
Direction: For 5 minutes, identify the missing word. Write your answer on the space provided on
your paper.
