A random variable is a variable whose value depends on the outcome of a random experiment. It can take on real values. There are two types of random variables: discrete random variables which can take on countable values, and continuous random variables which can assume uncountable values within certain limits. The probabilities associated with the possible values of a random variable define its probability distribution.

Random Variables (RV)
A variable is something change its value. It might shift with various
results of an experiment. On the off chance that the value of a variable relies on the result of a random experiment it is a random variable. A random variable can take up real value.
Mathematically, a random variable is a real-valued function
whose domain is a sample space N of a random experiment. A random variable is continuously meant by capital letter like Q, T, U etc. The lowercase letters like q, t, u, m etcspeak to the value of the RV.
Properties of a Random Variable
It only takes the real value.
For any constants Q1 and Q2, Q1X1 + Q2X2 is also random.
If Z1 and Z2 are 2 random variables, then Z1 + Z2 and Z1 Z2 are also
random.
|Z| is a random variable.
If Z is a random variable and Q is a constant, then QZ is also a
random variable.
Sorts of Random Variable
A random variable can be categorized into two sorts.
Discrete Random Variable
As the name recommends, this variable isn't associated or continuous. A variable which can just assume a countable number of real values i.e., the value of the discrete random sample is discrete in nature. The value of the random variable relies upon chance. At the end of the day, a real-valued function characterized on a discrete sample space is a discrete random variable.
The quantity of calls an individual gets in a day, the quantity of
things sold by a company, the quantity of things manufactured, number of accidents, number of presents got on birthday and so on are a portion of the discrete random variables.
Continuous Random variable
A variable which assumes interminable values of the sample
space is a continuous random variable. It can take all possible values between certain limits. It can also take integral as well as fractional values. The stature, weight, age of an individual, the distance between two urban areas and so forth are a portion of the continuous random variables.
Probability Distribution
For any event of a random analysis, we can locate its relating
probability. For various estimations of the random variable, we can locate its individual probability. The estimations of random variables alongside the relating probabilities are the probability distribution of the random variable.
suppose Q is a random variable. A function P(Q) is the probability
distribution of X. Any function W characterized for all genuine q by F(q) = P(Q ≤ q) is known as the distribution function of the random variable Q.
Properties of Probability Distribution
The probability distribution of a random variable X is P(X = xi) =
pi for x = xi and P(X = xi) = 0 for x ≠ xi.
The range of probability distribution for all possible values of a
random variable is from 0 to 1, i.e., 0 ≤ p(x) ≤ 1.
