Unit 4: Results Recording

Figure 157: Characteristic Valuation (2)

During characteristic valuation based on tolerance specifications, the characteristic is

accepted if the mean value is within the tolerance range. The standard deviation is not
important in this instance.
During a variable inspection for quantitative inspection characteristics, the valuation occurs
based on the s-method (ISO 3951). The s-method can be set for a one-sided or two-sided
tolerance range. The valuation for the inspection characteristic occurs according to a n-k
sampling plan using the mean value and standard deviation for the measured values.
During an attributive inspection, the valuation for the inspection characteristic occurs based
on the number of nonconforming units or number of defects corresponding to an n-c or n-c-d
sampling plan.
Inspection characteristics can be valuated based on action limits for a control chart.
Further valuation procedures can be implemented using function modules.

Closing Inspection Characteristics

The processing of an inspection characteristic is completed with the closing of the
characteristic. During closing, the system checks if conditions set in the inspection
specifications (material specification, inspection plan, and so on) for characteristic
processing were met. In general, all required characteristics and all processed optional
characteristics must have been closed before the usage decision can be made “properly” for
an inspection lot.
Before a characteristic is “properly” closed, the system checks the following points:
● Whether the required inspection scope was complied with
● Whether the conditional inspection characteristics were processed dependent on the
valuation of a controlling characteristic
● Whether an inspection description was entered for characteriatics that require
documentation

Lesson: Recording and Valuating Inspection Results

You can use the authorization object Q_INSP_FIN to define which users can forcibly close
inspection characteristics within results recording. This authorization object also controls
whether an inspection can be completed if there are still open inspection characteristics that
require confirmation. The authorization is assigned with reference to the plant and the
inspection type.
Using an implementation of the Business Add-In (BAdI)
BADI_QEEM_CLOSE_CHARACTERISTIC , you can program additional checks when closing a
characteristic in results recording. In a delivered example implementation, the principle of
dual control is implemented when closing the characteristics.
In this way, a recorded inspection result must be closed by another user; that is, at least two
different people must check the data.
This BAdI can be used only if no digital signature is provided for the inspection lot in the
results recording area.

Variants for Inspection Results Recording

Figure 158: Process-Optimized Results Recording

Process-optimized results recording enables flexible tabular characteristic processing. In this

way, you can record inspection results exactly for the recording process and work center.
The standard system contains the following recording options:
● Results recording for a master inspection characteristic for all inspection lots and
operations
● Results recording for inspection characteristics for all inspection lots and operations
● Results recording for several inspection points (physical samples, equipment) in one
inspection lot and operation
