Hello there! I'm using ClassDojo in my fourth grade class this year! Here’s some info to help you get
started and learn a little bit more about how I'll use Dojo each day.

What is ClassDojo?
ClassDojo is a website and an app that allows teachers to manage classroom
behavior, encourage social and academic skills, and communicate with parents
throughout the day. ClassDojo is easy and fun to use, and has demonstrated
success with teachers all over the country. I'm excited to be part of the ClassDojo
community!
Who earns ClassDojo points?
Students can earn ClassDojo points individually, as a group, and as a whole class. Once you
register as a parent and join my class, you are able to see your child’s story on www.classdojo.com.
To receive an invite to connect, please send your email and/or phone number to Miss Baker at
[email protected]. I truly feel that connecting as teachers, parents, and students on ClassDojo will
help us to better communicate, stay accountable, and will foster a great learning environment each
day.

How do students earn ClassDojo points?
Students usually earn points for positive behavior. Sometimes students need a reminder, so they can
also lose points for behaviors that “need work”. Negative ClassDojo points subtract
from their point total, but can always be earned back with more positive points. My
goal is to encourage positive behaviors throughout the day and to give out more
positive points than negative. Students who are showing behaviors that need work
may be encouraged to change their actions if classmates are earning points for
positive behaviors!

Positive Needs Work

● Good transition  ● Interrupting/shouting out
● Helping others  ● Not following directions
● On task  ● Off task
● Participating   ● Unkind to others
● Persistence
● Teamwork
● Working hard
● Agenda signed

Why should I want to earn ClassDojo points?
ClassDojo points are translated into HOWL tickets at the end of each week (every 5
Dojo points = 1 HOWL ticket). HOWL tickets are a school-wide positive behavior
management system. Students at Weikel are expected to exhibit HOWL behaviors,
meaning they Have respect, Own their behavior, Work together, and Listen. To buy
a Dojo Reward, a student must pay before encore or wait until the next day. Most
of the HOWL Store contains non-tangible privileges! Below is a list of some of the
rewards available in the HOWL Store.

Cost Reward

5 HOWL tickets ● Patterned pencil from box

● Choose the GoNoodle brain breaks

10 HOWL tickets ● Gray chair all day

● Pink chair all day
● Sit in the teacher's chair
● Change Dojo monster avatar

25 HOWL tickets ● No shoes in the classroom

● Wear a hat for the day
● Use a pen for the day
● Bring in show & tell
● Bring a stuffed animal to class

50 HOWL tickets ● Late homework pass

● Lunch with teacher & a friend

I am so excited for a great year with ClassDojo! Please let me know if you have questions!
