Position : Civil Lead Engineer ( RCC and Structural Design) Power Plant

Job Location : Chennai

Experience Level: 3 Years to 10 Years

ROLE OVERVIEW

 Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews engineering work, such as


engineering drawings, calculations and bid summaries, in Civil RCC
and Structural discipline on projects of medium size and complexity
or assignments in support of Power business EPC unit.

 Supervises the day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers,


specialists, designers and drafters.

 Applies broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices to


project engineering in the preparation of engineering analyses ( Static
and Dynamic) . Makes decisions independently concerning problems
within the discipline on the project.

 Represents the discipline on the project and with the client to resolve
technical questions and as required to coordinate work.

 Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work


plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and
manages implementation and performance accordingly.

 Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations and


bid summaries.

 Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers,


regulators) and coordinates with client representatives to obtain
approval on phases of work.

 Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups.


Provides technical guidance and interfaces with the day-to-day
technical work of discipline engineers, specialists, designers and
drafters.

 Maintains contacts, as directed, with client representatives, suppliers,


appropriate field personnel and other disciplines.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

 A recognized degree in a job related engineering from an accredited
college or university or a professional training from a recognized
reputed training centre.

 Broad progressive work experience in design engineering, for medium


large industrial plants, utilities, process plants, or
engineering/construction firms.

 Broad knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards and


design criteria pertinent to the particular discipline.

 Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of


methods, plant layout, materials, and computers for preparation of
analyses ( STAAD...) and development of project deliverables within
the discipline.

 Knowledge and understanding of technical and cost issues related to


selection of design features within the discipline.

 Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics


involved.

 Good working knowledge of application of 2-D and 3-D CAD ( REVIT


or TEKLA Structures in RCC Design ) tools in development of
conceptual designs. RCC design and delivering 2 D drawing from 3D
Model and BOQ for all items from 3 D Model.

Job Summary

To be proficient in Indian, British, American & other relevant international


standards, PIANC Guidelines, especially related to structure design &
marine works

To be able to independently work out the structural design & drawing works
To be able to hold meetings with client and other stakeholders in a project
including independent checker and other government officials on technical
matters

To be able to prepare & lead effective presentations on technical matters

Excellent communication skills in English (oral & written both). Competency


in local language will be added benefit
