    BAROQUE ARCHITECTURES IN THE PHILIPPINES ​(Essay made by: Calahi, Julie Mae)

    1. Miagao Church is also known as the Santo Tomas de


    Villanueva Parish Church. Miagao Church is a Roman Catholic
    church located in Miagao, Iloilo. This church is an example of a
    Baroque architecture.
    Its ochre color is due
    to the materials used
    in constructing the
    church: adobe, egg,
    coral and limestone.
    Most of architectural
    styles of the churches in the Philippines are called Filipino Baroque
    which is from Spanish era. Miagao Church is an example of
    Baroque Architecture due to its characteristics that has a lavish
    exterior contrasting with a relatively simple interior, and the use of
    the multiple spaces and carefully-planned lighting in the interior to give an impression of mystery. the buildings
    are also nearly overwhelmed by ornament of gilded wood, gigantic twisting columns, and sculpted vegetation.

    1. Spolarium - The picture can relate to Baroque because the art shows
    violence and the art show warlike effects. Baroque influence Philippine art
    because of the characteristics and in the paintings that we can see it shows the
    theme of mourning and death. Also, you can how cruel the world is and that also
    applied in Philippine arts that got influenced by baroque arts. The painting reflects
    to its society and wide range of cultural influences on the country's culture and
    how these influences honed the country's arts.

    style, which applied to the Virgin Mary's face.
