We still need plenty of help with this production. If you can help out in any way on April 2nd, please
contact Brian Cook (show chairman) by phone at (425) 418-2255, or
e-mailing him at [email protected].
As many of you may have heard, the Northwest Ring of Fire will be producing the program to be
handed out at Smoke & Mirrors. (The programs will be letter size folded in half.) If you are a
magician for hire, this is a great place to advertise! The people receiving these programs will of
course be fans of magic. For those of you not hustling magic gigs, can support this effort by
advertising yours or your employer’s business in the program, all for the low rate of: Full page = $110,
a half page = $60, a quarter page (business card size) = $35. Don’t wait! Contact Don Bloomer at
(206) 364-6056 or e-mail him at [email protected].

A quick reminder concerning our club meeting location/agreement . . . sales are not allowed at the
club, but occasional notification of a new product release by club members is okay. Actual sales
(or exchange of money) needs to take place elsewhere (such as the Buzz Inn).

Bruce Johnson would like everyone to know; what he will be doing this year is teaching
and performing at the Magic Show Conference May 12-14 in Branson, Missouri. The
conference is organized by Duane & Mary Laflin and Marty & Brenda Hahne. The thing
that makes this conference unique is that it is focused on showmanship and how to do
different types of shows. There are no trick lectures. Tricks are taught, but only in the
context of illustrating an aspect of showmanship. Further information can be found at
www.Dazzlingmagic.com or www.CharlieTheJugglingClown.com.

Joe Rehaume would like to thank the club for their support after the theft of his car
containing all of his magic. He was able to perform for a gig he had that weekend thanks
to the club’s help.

Local family needs our help!
On December 31, 2004, Jessica Aldrete shared many of the same hopes for the upcoming
New Year as most of us. She looked forward to enjoying the love of her wonderful children,
Cassandra (10) and Armando (7), as well as the daily companionship of her parents, Benjamin
and Aurora Soltero, of Paraiso’s Restaurant in Smokey Point where Jessica was also employed.
Unfortunately, due to a driver whose blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit,
Jessica’s plans were cut short when she was involved in an auto accident later that night resulting
in the death of a dear friend and sever head trauma to herself. Jessica has survived brain surgery
but remains in a coma.
Jessica is currently in an extended care facility in Tacoma, 80 miles from home, making
it difficult for her family & friends to provide the daily support that is vital to the recovery of
coma patients. Our goal is to bring Jessica closer to her family and to relieve them of some of
their financial burden. PLEASE JOIN US IN SUPPORTING JESSICA AND HER CHILDREN
BY ATTENDING A BENEFIT BREAKFAST & AUCTION

Benjamin Soltero, (father) is a performing magician and member of our Lynnwood Club.
Last months club meeting theme, was a performance workshop. “Try out a routine or
effect”. It was a great success with Rich Waters, Don Bloomer, Jeff Dial, Payne, and Kirk
Charles who even had his own pre-typed critique. A friendly audience of their peers
offered some great suggestions and tips.
On Saturday afternoon (Feb 19th), Banachek lectured to a packed room of 40 – 50 people. His
lecture contained everything from PK touches, to predictions, to card tricks, to psychokinetic
pens, to metal bending, and a business card trick for magicians and mentalist alike. Some came
from clubs as far away as; Spokane, Wa. and Coeur d’Alene, Id. well worth the time & travel!
Next regular meeting will be: March 10th, 7:00pm, at the Blue Ridge Fire Station,
18800 – 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood. The theme for the March Meeting is a trivia game show
with a magic theme. Jeff Dial, our Emcee says “come try your luck and win a new Cougar or
Jaguar. . . or whatever ‘stray cat’ we can find”. . . .
