Analysis Procedure
Overview of the graphic user interface is shown in Figure 1. The numbers in the latter
figure represents the analysis procedure.
1. Open the response database for the selected earthquake scenario.
2. Input response parameters of the structure.
3. Input limit states and uncertainty (epistemic uncertainty quantified by the user).
4. Run fragility analysis.
5. Mean and standard deviation of maximum displacements
6. Plot of fragility curves and grid of associated numeric values
7. Copy the numeric values to Windows clipboard.

1. Select an earthquake scenario
Press the button [Select Earthquake Scenario], #1 in Figure 1, then the below dialog box
(Figure 2) will appear to select an earthquake scenario.

Sources of uncertainties can be categorized as (i) inherent randomness (aleatory
uncertainty source) and (ii) errors of ignorance and simplification (epistemic uncertainty
source). While variation due to the former can be quantified by standard deviation of
response variables, estimating the latter effect is complex and affected by various sources
such as modeling errors, measurement errors and statistical errors. Therefore quantification
of epistemic uncertainty is left at user's hand in this program. Coefficient of variation
(COV) estimated by the analyst may be entered at the below text box.

Analysis results will be obtained after reading the response database, as shown in
Figure 7. Fragility curves corresponding the predetermined five limit states will appear with
a grid filled with numeric values (#6 in Figure 1). Plots of mean and standard deviation of
maximum responses are also represented (#5 in Figure 1). By pressing the [Copy to
clipboard] button (#7 in Figure 1), the numeric values of fragility curves will be exported to
the Windows Clipboard. This can be pasted to other spreadsheet applications such as
Microsoft Excel.
