PREPARATION OF AIRCRAFT FOR PRESERVATION
When possible, the aircraft must be kept in a hangar away from all
outside agents that deteriorate its protection or damage its
equipments; if not possible, park aircraft facing prevailing wind and
moor it.

(a) Parking

PRESERVATION OF AIRCRAFT EXTERNAL
COMPONENTS

(a) Engines

Do appropriate engine protection and perform Engine Run Up every 14


days in accordance with EMM 72-00-00 - ENGINE - SERVICING chapter 6.
Preservation/Depreservation.

The recommended duration of Engine Run Up is 20 minutes

NOTE: Before Engine Run Up, remove all cover/caps/plugs installed as


per (MP ATR-A-10-1X-XX-02ZZZ-130Z-A/AMM (JIC) 10-10-00-PKG-10000) and
all other protections that would interfere with systems/structure,
during such procedure.

(b) Structure

1 Inspections
Inspect the wings, the fuselage and the control surfaces and make sure
that these components show no sign of corrosion damage or paintwork
defects.

NOTE: Do not walk on the non-step areas.

2 Bonding Strip
Install the bonding strip and make sure that it is in correct contact
with the ground.

3 Non protected metal parts


If the aircraft is stored in the open, the application of temporary
corrosion protection product (Propaco SC from Socomore or 63GN011G) is
recommended. If not, the area should be cleaned regularly to remove
deposits.

4 Windshields and Cabin windows


Covering from outside for cockpit windshield and side window with
aluminum foil and Tape

Protect flight control surfaces (flaps, ailerons, elevators,
rudder, etc) to prevent dust accumulation and avoid bird/insects nests
by means of appropriate insects protection screens/nets, making sure
that drain holes remain cleared or by applying tape on the openings. In

(c) Landing Gear and Shock Absorbers


1 Make sure that the safety pins are installed on the landing gears.

2 Make sure that the shock absorbers show no signs of leakage.

3 Using a clean cloth soaked with Oil hydraulic petroleum fluid (CML
code 02001/[matl 02-001]), clean the actuator and the shock absorber
non-painted areas and allowing a thin coat to remain on these surfaces
to protect against corrosion.

4 Do a check of the paint condition on the wheels (NLG and MLG) and on
the brake hydraulic gear. Do a paint touch-up if necessary.

5 Thoroughly eliminate any traces of hydraulic fluid. Inspect tires,


wheels and brakes (Ref. MP ATR-A-32-41-XX-00ZZZ-360Z-A/
AMM (JIC) 32-41-00 CHK 10010 #check of wheels and tires#).

6 Protect wheels with covers (recommended light color or aluminum


cover).

(d) Flight Controls

1 Set Gust Lock "ON"


NOTE: The #GUST LOCK# control lever is located on the center pedestal
forward of the power controls.

2 Move the elevator and the aileron controls until they are locked.

3 Do the leak check of the rudder damper oil Ref. MP

PRESERVATION OF SYSTEMS

(a) Refueling

It is recommended to maintain fuel on board with a minimum of 750 Kg


per each tank (1500 Kg of fuel in total).

(b) Fuel System

1 Examine the fuel tank area and make sure that there are no signs of
leakage.

2 Put a cap on the ram air inlet of the center box found on the left
side of the wing-to-fuselage fairing.

3 Drain the water from fuel tank Ref. MP ATR-A-12-24-28-00ZZZ-220Z-A.

(c) Hydraulic System

1 Examine the hydraulic reservoir level and fill if necessary. Examine


the condition of the lines and the different couplings.

2 Make sure that there are no signs of leakage.

(d) Air Conditioning


Put the overboard valve in closed position (electrically).
NOTE: Put on AUTO (open) when performing Engine Run Up.

(e) Oxygen System


Examine general condition of flight crew/passenger and portable oxygen
installations.

(f) Main and Emergency battery


Main and Emergency batteries can be kept on aircraft

(g) Flight Data Recorder and Cockpit Voice Recorder


FDR and CVR can be kept on aircraft
