1. INTRODUCTION

Power generators are important tools for anyone who wants extra protection in
emergencies against power loss. For the oil and gas industry, power generators are a very
important necessity. These generators provide key power sources for the oil and gas industry,
particularly to assist with drilling and digging. The procedure of both drilling and digging are
key to these industries, and a lot of power is needed to provide service to heavy equipment. With
the help of power generators, this can be achieved efficiently and also help to ensure that no
power loss will be suffered. A lot of different tasks are involved in the oil and gas industry, such
as deep earth and offshore drilling, pumping, and the actual delivery of the finished product.

If there is an emergency or disaster and the main power is shut down, generators can
assist with backup, allowing business to continue on as usual. This can save the industry a huge
amount of money and time.

All major companies rely on generators extensively. That’s why it’s important they
choose heavy duty, reliable generators that can give their facilities and equipment the power they
need to run smoothly and without any interruption.

The power needs of today’s Indian industry are on a steep and alarming increase by the
day and by the hour. The reason – ambitious growth plans both by the government and the
private sectors. With increasing shortfalls in power generation and frequent interruptions, the
industry can ill afford to rely solely on a single power source.

Sunbeam generators private limited, a Chennai based organisation, has taken a fitting call
as an effective response to this critical need of the Indian industry, specializing in the design,
manufacturing and supply of Canopied Diesel Generators(DG) sets for use as an alternate power
source in a wide market spectrum.

SUNBEAM is an ISO 9001:2000 certified company, perfection in design and fuel

efficiency is guaranteed in all the aspects of power generation. Sunbeam, the power of silence is
one of the top players in the alternate power market segment – manufacturing and supplying
canopied DG sets to offices, hotels, restaurant, hospitals, banks and homes. It offers 24X7
services to its proud customers who rely on sunbeam for its best-in-class products with service.

Sunbeam’s manufacturing facility is in southern India. It sprawls over a 1,00,000 sq.ft

area. It was born out ideology of an integrated process line. Puducherry features a fantastic
infrastructure setup and to fully meet client expectations.

Sunbeam believes in keenly listening to its client, even to the smallest detail in his needs
which in way the company possesses the capacity to provide world class technical support, i.e.,
total solutions in short. It has been constant endeavour to create a new market with top notch
quality and unparalleled customer delight. As a consequence it has striven towards this end by
taking their business beyond the boundaries if commerce to render it as a lasting relationship.

Sunbeam generators private limited has been started in the year 1996 by
Mr.C.R.Madanagopal at Coimbatore. They started doing manufacture for all diesel generating
5
sets like Kirloskar, Ashok Leyland and Caterpillar at Puducherry. In the year of 2000, Kirloskar
oil engines limited has introduced GENPOWER policy. As per the policy, they have short listed
their OEM’s (Original Equipment Manufacturers) from 32 to 11. In that list sunbeam was not
selected as OEM and Sunbeam was doing business only in a small way doing smaller range of
DG sets.

In the year of 2002, the present Managing Director Mr.P.S.Pushparaj took over the
company, obtained the OEM from kirloskar and started manufacturing and selling of kirloskar
diesel generator sets in the state of Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

In the year of 2005, government of India implemented noise pollution control act and all
DG set manufacturers are forced to sell the DG sets along with sound proof enclosures. Due to
this norm, sunbeam had moved to a bigger place and invested in machineries, land and
equipment. Sunbeam had set up all facilities to manufacture a sound proof diesel generator sets
like Turret punch press, Cutting and Bending machine, Foam fixing, Pre-treatment and powder
coating plant.

2.3 VISION STATEMENT

Even strive to be a centre of excellence in sheet metal enclosures, providing world class
solutions in the field of standby/alternate power, to eventually become a market leader in these
