Term Definition
Social business Business that have a social component. Like use of social networks on business processes, like
youtube to engage with several stakeholders.
Business Challenges Changes that are occurring from different areas like technology, environment among others that
modify the organization`s way of doing things, and that require to adjust in order to achieve
higher performance and reach the market efficiently.
Information Systems / Systems and technologies that are transforming firms. E-Commerce is related to the use of digital
E-commerce / E-Government technology and the Internet to execute the activities of the company. And e-Government is
referred to the application new web technologies to engage with government and public sector
agencies.
Management Process of the administration of the company. Defines the strategy, monitors the operational
sector, organizes and coordinates the employees to achieve the objectives via the use of resources
like financial among others looking to minimize costs and maximize profits.
Decision Support Systems / computerized systems that manage the companies activity like transactions, sales, among others
Transaction process systems / that are focused on problems and finding solutions, that help also senior management, perform
Executive support systems evaluations, monitor business processes, facilitates operational management, etc…
Business processes Several organized tasks and behaviors that allow to achieve the defined objectives achieve certain
business results which are organized and coordinated, that are necessary for the correct
functioning and structure of the company.
Enterprise Social Network Based on social business, use of social network technologies and all the employees, teams and
resources that use social media to achieve the objectives.
Manufacturing / Productions Department related to the production of goods and services, uses employees, machines,
applications among other resources to achieve a final result, can be optimized and managed
efficiently in order to produce with higher quality
Sales / Marketing Part of the company that is more focused on managing clients, providing sales, marketing,

publicity and other functions in order to maximize profits and increase sales.
Finance / Accounting Managing the organization's financial assets and maintaining the organization's financial records.

functionalities and objectives
HR / Other departments In this case represents the human resources that manages employees, have several functions like
check performance, pay salaries, have a relation with the taxes and governments of the country

Business Applications and All the applications used by the organization, business intelligence allows to monitor and
Business intelligence effectively optimize data via many processes like local data warehouses or operations of extract
transform and load data, cube processing, the applications can be web or stand alone and allows to
make several functions the information might be stored in a database optimized by BI processes
1.4. 1.3. Descriptive analysis 25% (25% of the final grade)
There is an important relation between e-business and collaboration, the changes in several sectors and technologies have conducted to
the use of social processes and technologies to optimize the performance of a company. In some cases the use of social technology has
improved the management and functionality of several companies and facilitate the process of reaching objectives. In this analysis it is
taken in account the manufacturing and production that has inventories that uses ERP, supply management systems among other business
processes to achieve the goals, also the sales and marketing are represented has they may benefit from using social networks for sales,
managing clients among other functionalities. The finance and accounting that manages the financial assets, pays suppliers, etc… And the
Human resources and other departments that manages employees, work conditions, salary payments among other functionalities.
The information technology improves the processes, helps management at all levels like operational and can use social networking
technologies. It helps on sales, receipts, cash, payroll, manufacturing and other functionalities. It improves the Decision Support Systems,
the Transaction process systems and the Executive support systems.
Data is stored in databases usually on servers this data can be optimized by BI processes like ETL, LDW, Cube processing, in some
companies several applications access this data. It allows to organize and analyse data, and also make predictions. It facilitates the process
of making decisions. The enterprise applications can be several, some are internal to the companies, some are knowledge base systems,
others are Enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management applications, and supply change management applications
among many other possibilities, these applications maximize the organization functionality in quality, innovation, customer service
among other factors.. There is a more common use of e-business, e-commerce and e-government to help the management. The enterprise
social network supports the social business.
Collaboration and social business can help some companies to improve.
Concerning the British an Irish Lions several changes were done taking in consideration that players play for their teams, it was
developed social techniques and an application, which allowed to create virtual test teams, where users could manage several factors like
weather based on simulations. The company uses data analytics which combines several inputs form clients and area experts and provides
stats and many information it also has on line channels and many videos, it has metrics of performances, it is constantly being updated,
the new app had a higher average use time then the previous, social logins and social networks it analyses the data of the clients, and
sponsors can interact with the fans, it also has functionalities for sponsors. It gives more information about the fan base, digital analysis
and engage with the client`s database.
