ABSTRACT

In Retail Store different – different products are purchased from dealer

and sale to the customer. Such product are: Stationaries, Grocery
product, Cosmetics, etc. In this every customer has different - different
requirements. Suppose we have to maintain the sales record properly
then retail store requires a good system which keep the customer record,
Bill Number record, Bill date record, grand total etc.

Earlier sales record was done manually by documentation. It involves

lot of man power. Suppose we want to search any record then lot of
problem was faced by retail store. As day by day records increases,
many problems come. And at some time we want instant record then it
is difficult to find.

This system was created to be used in tracking the sales and inventory
of the store. It gives you the ability to check your products, manage
supplies and many more. It enables users to create, update and store
products and transaction that are happening. In this system, a single
transaction entry records necessarily details of the customer, products
purchased, price and date while also updating inventory level.

CHAPTER 1 – INTRODUCTION

This Retail Store Management System Project focuses on the

store’s sales and inventory system. Since they are using the
manual recording of transactions, sometimes they forget to
record the transaction of some customers. Using a manual
recording, there’s a high possibility of errors and
miscomputations of sales like the record are being lost because
of the busyness of the staff or the assigned personnel. Since the
system is a computerized one, it can be easy for the owner to
manage the activities in their business. Thus, this system can
lessen the paper works in this area and it won’t be time-
consuming to the owner and staff.

This system is created to be used in tracking the sales and

inventory of the store. It gives you the ability to check on your
products, manage suppliers and many more. It enables users to
create, update and store products and transactions that are
happening. In this system, a single transaction entry records
necessarily details of the customer, products purchased, price
and date while also updating inventory levels.

It is helpful to those who have a convenience store and that are

using manual recording of the transaction. It also provides a
computerized system for maintaining records of the products and
the clients. It is more efficient and reliable to use. Using this
system, you can avoid human errors, data manipulations, and
especially data inconsistency and redundancy.

It is user-friendly and it is used to improve efficiency in

recording for each transaction. Instead of maintaining separate
record-keeping processes for the payment and inventory
adjustment, you can manage each aspect with a single entry.
Every time there is a sales transaction, the sales and inventory

system automatically updates the store’s database to reflect the
corresponding requirement in terms of inventory and finance.

1.2 EXISTING AND PROPOSED SYSTEM

Existing System

 Manual handling of records therefore there are any

chances of missing the records.
 The system at any point of time can provide the
information of the computer retail stores.

Proposed system

The proposed system is completely related to Internet

browsing. The web enabled information management
system designed to automate the entire operations of the
computer retail store. This maintains and controls the
stock details and does online billing and generates
various online reports. This system allows multi-
divisional, multi-department system handling that
includes various activities. In this system it gives the
entire reports of the customer’s account and other detail.

MySQL is the world’s most popular open source database.

With its proven performance, reliability and ease – of – use,

MySQL has become the leading database applications, use

by high profile web properties.

In this project we aim to demonstrate the use of create, read,

update and delete MySQL operations through this project.
We have used MySQL version 8.0.20. There are various
types of modules available to manage stock, product,
customer. We can also generate reports for product,
customer, store, bill. Here, the customer module manage all
the operations of customer, product module can manage
product, bill module is normally developed for managing
billing, store module manages store operations, stock
module has been implemented to manage stock.

CHAPTER 2 – ER DIAGRAM

Entity-relationship diagram describes the structure of database

with the help of diagram called ER diagram.
The 3 components of ER diagram are:
1. Entity
2. Attribute
3. Relationship

1. Entity:
An entity is a real world object that is distinguishable
from other objects. In ER diagram an entity is represented
in the form of rectangle.

2. Attributes:
Entities are represented by means of their properties
called attributes.

3. Relationship:
A relationship is associated among two or more
entities. It is represented in the form of diamond.
