This document is a design project proposal for a farming robot controlled by smartphone. It aims to address issues in Philippine agriculture like decreasing farmland and lack of workers. The robot would allow for easy crop maintenance and access to fresh local produce. The proposal cites sources discussing how technology and mechanization can modernize Philippine farming practices and help meet food security goals. The proposed robot design intends to maximize agricultural output sustainably despite land and resource constraints.

Introduction

Automation of machine is one of the solution of the growing problem of the productions.

Automation has several advantages like accuracy, precision, productive and high efficiency. It is

also expected that autonomous machine will be deployed in diverse application in near future.

The Philippines is one of the agricultural country that mainly export their product around the

world, including United States, Japan, Europe, and ASEAN countries (members of the

Association of Southeast Asian Nations.) The Philippines lacks people who wants to be in

agricultural sector which had become a major problem.

Nowadays, the agriculture land continues to decrease in number because rural places

converting to urban place directly affect the production of the crop importing and supplying

enough for the country

According to [ CITATION CEa17 \l 18441 ], The smart farming approach implies that farm

management tasks and upstream interactions in the supply chain are informed by collected data,

enhanced by context and situation awareness, and triggered by real-time events. Scientists and

policymakers are increasingly looking to smart farming as a technological solution to address

societal concerns around farming, including provenance and food traceability.

Such as for [CITATION Ann18 \l 18441 ] who commented that agriculture in the Philippines

has always been associated with manual labor and backward traditional farming methods, the

stigma of farming being a poor man’s job doesn’t make it easier to fulfill its mandate of reaching

food security or attracting more people to join the sector.

The government and the private sector made efforts to address self-sufficiency in

important food staples through the introduction of hybrid seeds, innovative farming techniques

and technology to the agriculture sector.

[ CITATION Rom17 \l 18441 ], Duterte administration hopes to break this chain of endless

rice importations. It is believed that the key to modernizing Philippine agriculture is

mechanization and Japan, whose Prime Minister Shinzo Abe recently visited the Philippines, has

agreed to help in a farm mechanization project that will cost about P1 billion.

According to [ CITATION Owe14 \l 18441 ], Strong competition for land and water will

come from housing, industry and the preservation of natural habitats for maintaining

biodiversity. Agriculture production must also adapt to the unpredictable consequences of

climate change whether it is flood, draught.

This study proposed a way of modern farming to maximize agriculture aspects despite

the decreasing number of farmland in our country, the design of mechanization in farming is also

sustainable development which can provide the kitchen fresh vegetable and fruits. It can also

prolong the lifespan of the crops and cost reduction in transportation, elimination of manual

labors of farmer, the design does not mean that it can maintain the quality of the crops for a long

period of time however compared to the crops being transported from rural areas
