Feasibility Study on Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Technical-

Vocational Teacher Education and Bachelor of Science in Education major in


 Major in English
 Major in Filipino
 Major in Math
 Major in Social Studies
 Major in MAPEH
in Interworld Asian Institute, Inc.

ABSTRACT
The study aimed to determine the feasibility of establishing new undergraduate
academic programs in Interworld Asian Institute, Inc. Based on the analysis of gathered
data, it is feasible to offer the proposed programs. The strengths of the proposed
programs are in terms of very high viability as regards management, market demand of
graduates, financial and operational aspects.

I. INTRODUCTION
The demand for teachers is real. The need for teachers is universal,
regardless of economic conditions and political climates. Though the problem of
teacher shortages isn't present in all areas of teaching, there is always demand for
elementary school teachers and an even greater demand for teachers in content
specific areas like math, science, and special education. The demand for teachers
should be supplied by teacher education institutions that implement high-quality
teacher training programs. and an increasing preponderance of comparatively low-
quality preparation programs.

II. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY


The main objective of the study was to determine the feasibility of offering
Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher
Education and Bachelor of Science in Education
 Major in English
 Major in Filipino
 Major in Math
 Major in Social Studies
 Major in MAPEH
specifically in terms of:Management viability;
1) Market demand viability;
2) Financial viability and
3) Operational viability.

III. MATERIALS AND METHODS

Respondents
The respondents of this study consisted of ten high schools in Tarlac City and
two high schools in Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac. These schools were considered feeder
schools of the College. The total graduating student-population is one thousand
million from the said schools. Table 1 presents the respondents of the study.

Data Gathering Tools


Questionnaire-checklist, interview and documentary analysis were utilized in
gathering data.

Preparation of the questionnaire. Books, magazines, journals, theses and the


internet were used as resources in the preparation of the questionnaire.
Validation of the questionnaire. To establish the comprehensibility of the
questionnaire, it was validated by some teachers and students of Tarlac National
High School.

Administration of the questionnaire. The questionnaires were distributed to


the target respondents and then retrieved by the researcher himself. The data were
then tabulated, analysed and interpreted.

Interview
Information from other external sources such as Public Employment Service
Office (PESO) managers and HRD managers were gathered by conducting
interviews.

Documentary Analysis
Papers pertinent to the College’s mission and goals, academic programs,
faculty, record and property section were all subjected to documentary analysis.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION


On Description of the Course
Teacher candidates study relevant theories, laws and practices, strategies,
models, cultural diversity and exceptionalities in education. The teacher education
program is integrated across the disciplines and designed to ensure coherence
among curriculum, instruction, field and clinical experiences, research, assessments
and evaluations.
In addition, in the teacher education program, teacher candidates gain in-
depth knowledge and preparation in subject matter and pedagogy content
knowledge in which they plan to teach. The teacher education programs’ coursework
and preparation, field and clinical practice experiences are all based on professional,
national, CHED and institution standards. The teacher education program is
designed so that candidates are well prepared in their content area and can
demonstrate mastery of knowledge through inquiry, critical analysis, synthesis and
reflection of subject matter content.

The Bachelor of Elementary Education program is designed to prepare


individuals intending to teach in the elementary level. It aims to develop highly
motivated and competent teachers specializing in the content and pedagogy for
elementary education.

The Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Education will prepare teachers for the


TLE subjects in Grades 9-10 and Tech-Voc Livelihood track subjects in Grades 11
and 12. These Tech-Voc Livelihood track subjects are taken by Senior High
Students who chose the Technical-Vocational track.

The Bachelor of Secondary Education major in:


 English
 Filipino
 Math
 Social Studies
 MAPEH

is an undergraduate teacher education program designed to equip learners with


adequate and relevant competencies to teach English, Filipino, Math, Social Studies
and MAPEH respectively.

They may also pursue careers as


 Online instructors teaching knowledge and skills related to their
majors
 BPO agents
 Bloggers, and
 Researchers

On Institutional Mandate
The operation of Interworld Asian Institute, Inc. is based on its institutional
philosophy quoted as:
“INSTITUTIONAL PHILOSOPHY HERE”

In support of the vision and goals of the university, the academic institution is
mandated to hold on the mission statement as quoted:
“MISSION STATEMENT HERE”

It is along this mandate that the College is proposing the offering of these
programs.

On Management Viability
Management viability of the proposed program is in consideration of the
qualifications of the faculty members who will be assigned to handle the subjects of
the program, as well as the management competence of the college in particular.
The College is manned by highly qualified staff. The deans and department
chairpersons are master’s and doctorate degrees graduates with vertically aligned
specializations. Another strength of the College is it continuous initiative in
prioritizing faculty and staff development.

On Market Viability
Demand for Graduates/Employment Opportunities
The information regarding demand for graduates and employment
opportunities were determined through interviews with 2 Public Employment
Services Office (PESO) managers and 7 HRD managers. The result of the
interview affirmed the demands for graduates along these industries as they
envision restructuring and reinventing their respective companies in response to
the economic “reboot” brought about by the COVID-19 health crisis.
From the result of the interviews, it was found out that public and private
educational institutions are in dire need of graduates of these proposed
programs. Industries in Tarlac City and in the province of Tarlac like Sitel,
Sutherland, SM City Tarlac, International Wiring System, Jelexie Corporation are
also hiring graduates of these programs.

Prospective Students
Majority of the respondents are willing to enrol in the proposed programs.
To advertise it proposed programs and attract students, the institution will
intensify its promotional activities such as career orientation, student-referral
program, career caravan, brochures and poster distribution and streamer
installation.

Presence of Existing Higher Educational Institutions


There are other higher educational institutions – Tarlac State University,
Osias Colleges, Ecumenical Christian College and Tarlac Christian College–
offering the same proposed programs but Interworld Asian Institute has
continuously put up a good name in providing quality education to its students,
and for producing competent graduates. The institution has also an advantage in
terms of accessibility due to its strategic location.

On Financial Viability
On Financial Requirements for the Five -year period, based on the
conducted research, the College is financially stable and can sustain and
maintain the operation of these proposed programs.
