    be finalised, approved and released; and is therefore subject to change. The
    opinions presented here are my own and not necessarily those of the working
    group or Standards Australia.
    DR AS3992:2019 UPDATE STATUS

    • Current version – AS/NZS 3992:2015


    • Weld Australia (formerly WTIA), with Industry backing, proposed the project to Standards
    Australia following comments / amendments raised by industry.
    • Standards Australia, through Pressure Equipment group ME001, formed working group
    (ME015) to review comments and update the Standard.
    • Standards New Zealand opted not to partake, therefore the new Standard will be AS only, not
    AS/NZS.
    • July – September 2019: Public Comment – DR AS 3992:2019
    • Release of new Standard – anticipated early 2020.
    DR AS 3992:2019 INTERACTION WITH OTHER
    STANDARDS

    • AS 3992 is a standard that falls under the umbrella of the AS1200 suite of standards
    • Particular interactions:
    • Design Standards AS1210; AS1228; and AS4041
    • In-Service Inspection AS/NZS3788
    • Fabrication Standard AS4458*
    • Testing Standards AS4037; AS2205
    • Revision & Addition of new requirements to Sections 1, 5, 7, 8
    and 9
    • Roles and responsibilities have changed.
    • Clarification of testing requirements particularly those requiring
    impact testing.
    DR AS 3992:2019 • Revision of Appendices B and D, and new Appendix G
    • Addition of new Appendix I to provide guidance on oxidation
