1 Definitions
“Containment” means those aspects of the Building relating to or associated with carrying cables used in
the provision of Telecommunication Services and shall include but shall not be limited to all or any part of
pipe, conduit, cable duct, trough, tube, channel, cable tray, trunking, riser or junction boxes;
“Design Consultants” means party or parties that are involved in technical design within the building
structures which form part of their project developments;
2 Objective
The purpose of “Stadiums Telecom Infrastructure Guidelines” is to give stadiums design consultants a list of
considerations during the design of their relevant projects.
It is mandatory that all design consultants conform to the “Stadiums Telecom Infrastructure Guidelines”, to
ensure capability for telecom services within their relevant projects.
“Stadiums Telecom Infrastructure Guidelines” is compliant to version 6.0 of “Internal Cabling Guidelines”
published by ICT Qatar on February 28th, 2013, and available at Ooredoo web site at the below link.

3 Document Scope
The scope of this documents is to lists the requirements for the following infrastructure elements
• Containments
o Underground Ducts and Junction Boxes
o Cable Ladder
• Equipment Rooms
o Main Equipment Rooms
o Backup Equipment Rooms
o Secondary Equipment Rooms
The requirements of the above infrastructure elements are covering the below list of telecom services
4 Target Audience
This document is intended for use by Design Consultants involved in design of stadiums for the world cup
2022 project. Design consultants are obligated to coordinate with the Ooredoo during the preliminary and
detailed design stages.
5 Disclaimer
The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) ensures that all preparations for the 2022 FIFA World
Cup™ align with Qatar’s other development imperatives, as described in the Qatar National Vision 2030 and
the National Development Strategy 2011-2016. Along with its stakeholders, the SC is tasked with delivering
stadiums and other infrastructure for an amazing 2022 FIFA World Cup™ that leaves a lasting legacy for
Qatar, the region and the world.

7.1. Ducts
• Junction boxes need to be located in the footway or verge, in a safe location and be easy to
access
• The orientation of the Junction boxes (access holes) needs to be designed to facilitate the
cable entry.
• Different sized Junction boxes are based on the number of ducts entering the Junction Box.

• MTR8 Manholes shall be constructed outside Main/Backup Equipment Rooms.
• Stadium shall haveONE (1) Main Equipment Room to host the following
o Ooredoo Main Critical Communications Equipment
o Ooredoo, 2ndOperator and 3rdOperator Mobile Services (2/3/4/5G) Equipment
o Ooredoo Main Fixed Services Equipment
• Main Equipment Room dimensions and Rack layout shall be made in a way that satisfies
the minimum requirements listed in Table 1: Main Equipment Room Space Requirements for 20K
Seats Stadiums.

• If racks are arranged in the room in rows, the isles between Rack-rows shall be of a
minimum width of 1 m.
• Room shall have one door (fire rated up to 2 hours) and no windows.
• Room shall be dust tight.
• Roof and surrounding walls shall be free of concealed water and/or drainage pipes.
• No air-conditioning ducts shall be passing through.
• Continuous cable ladder from the room up to rooftop of the building shall be provided.

• Each Stadium shall have multiple Secondary Equipment Rooms based on the design to host
Critical Communication and Mobile Services Remote Units.
• Space requirements
o Critical Communication is either rack-mounted or wall-mounted
§ If rack mounted then space for one 600×600 mm rack with 800 mm front
access and 150 mm back ventilation shall be required.
§ If wall mounted then 2x2 m (WxH) wall space shall be required.
o Mobile Services Equipment are wall-mounted.
§ 1 wall mounted remote unit shall be required for Ooredoo, 2nd and 3rd
operator 2G/3G/4G services.
§ 1 wall mounted remote unit shall be required for Ooredoo, 2nd and 3rd
operator 5G services.
§ In total 2x2 m (WxH) wall space shall be required for all mobile operators
remote units.
• Room shall have one door (fire rated up to 2 hours) and shall have no windows.
• Room shall be dust-tight.
• Roof and surrounding walls shall be free of concealed water and/or drainage pipes.
• No air-conditioning ducts shall be passing through.
• Cable access to both External ducts and internal cable ladders.
• Cable tray of 300 mm (width) at the top of the Rack where the Remote Unit will be
installed.
8.1. Ducts
• All ducts used shall be D54 ducts as detailed in Error! Reference source not found.
• Ducts to be laid at 600 mm depth from final ground level with pulling rope installed.
• Only ONE (1) bend max of 90° is allowed in any span.
• Minimum of 3 external access points to the stadium.
• Duct route between junction box and Main/Backup Equipment Rooms shall consist of
minimum 9 way ducts.
• Duct routebetween two junction box shall consist of minimum 4 way ducts.
• Duct network shall be extended to all outdoor points were service is required, including
outdoor base-station(s) locations, kiosks, public phones, etc…Duct routes between junction
box and any of these points shall consist of minimum 2 way ducts.
• Maximum span between two junction boxes shall not exceed 200 m.
• All duct designs shall be approved by Ooredoo prior construction.

• Each Stadium shall have multiple Secondary Equipment Rooms based on the design to host
Critical Communication and Mobile Services Remote Units.
• Space requirements
o Critical Communication is either rack-mounted or wall-mounted
§ If rack mounted then space for one 600×600 mm rack with 800 mm front
access and 150 mm back ventilation shall be required.
§ If wall mounted then 2x2 m (WxH) wall space shall be required.
o Mobile Services Equipment are wall-mounted.
§ 1 wall mounted remote unit shall be required for Ooredoo, 2nd and 3rd
operator 2G/3G/4G services.
§ 1 wall mounted remote unit shall be required for Ooredoo, 2nd and 3rd
operator 5G services.
§ In total 2x2 m (WxH) wall space shall be required for all mobile operators
remote units.
• Room shall have one door (fire rated up to 2 hours) and no windows.
• Room shall be dust-tight.
• Roof and surrounding walls shall be free of concealed water and/or drainage pipes.
• No air-conditioning ducts shall be passing through.
• Cable access to both External ducts and internal cable ladders.
• Cable tray of 300 mm (width) at the top of the Rack where the Remote Unit will be
installed.
10.1. Ducts
• All ducts used shall be D54 ducts as detailed in Error! Reference source not found.
• Ducts to be laid at 600 mm depth from final ground level with pulling rope installed.
• Only ONE (1) bend max of 90° is allowed in any span.
• Minimum of 3 external access points to the stadium.
• Duct routes between junction box and Main/Backup Equipment Rooms shall consist of
minimum 12 way ducts.
• Duct routes between two junction box shall consist of minimum 6 way ducts.
• Duct network shall be extended to all outdoor points were service is required, including
outdoor base-station(s) locations, kiosks, public phones, etc…Duct routes between junction
box and any of these points shall consist of minimum 2 way ducts.
• Maximum span between two junction boxes shall not exceed 200 m.
• All duct designs shall be approved by Ooredoo prior construction.
• Junction boxes need to be located in the footway or verge, in a safe location and be easy to
access
• The orientation of the Junction boxes (access holes) needs to be designed to facilitate the
cable entry.
• Different sized Junction boxes are based on the number of ducts entering the Junction Box.

• MTR8 Manholes shall be constructed outside Main/Backup Equipment Rooms.
• Stadium shall have ONE (1) Main Equipment Room to host the following
o Ooredoo Main Critical Communications Equipment
o Ooredoo, 2ndOperator and 3rdOperator Mobile Services (2/3/4/5G) Equipment
o Ooredoo Main Fixed Services Equipment
• Main Equipment Room dimensions and Rack layout shall be made in a way that satisfies
the minimum requirements listed in Table 13:Main Equipment Room Space Requirements for
80K Seats Stadiums.
