Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow:
The Dollhouse
Binny saw the prettiest dollhouse at the toyshop when she went
shopping with Mum.
“Please, can I have it?” she asked Mum. Mum checked the price and
said that four hundred rupees was too much. Then she said, “I’ll tell you
what. If you earn the money, you can buy it.”
At home, Binny ran straight to her piggy bank and counted her
money. Only fifty rupees! She ran back downstairs and found Mum in the
kitchen making lunch. “Can I do some extra work?” Binny asked her. Mum
said she would pay her ten rupees if she could set the table. So, Binny set the
table and put the money in her piggy bank.
Later, Mum said if Binny would water the plants she would pay her
twenty rupees. So, Binny watered the plants and put the money in her piggy
bank. Mum didn’t have any more work for her that day, so Binny counted
her money again and thought it would take forever to earn the money for her
dollhouse.
She saw her stuffed animals on her bed and thought of selling them.
She went to get a big box and as she packed the stuffed animals in the box,
her kitten jumped into it. Binny laughed and said, “I’m not selling you,
Kitty.”
Meow. Kitty rubbed against the box.
“You like the box?” Binny asked. “It is big, just like the dollhouse.”
Just then, Binny had a wonderful idea. She didn’t need to buy a doll house.
She could make the box into a dollhouse or… a kitten house! She decorated
the box with her paints and bought a soft pillow for Kitty’s new house with
her piggy bank money.
Meow, Kitty purred, curling up in her new house.
