protocols.

7 Procedures
 Physically check the condition of bag filter.
 Check for external corrosion of casing. Clean it properly. Paint it on
requirement.
 Check for fugitive emission through discharge of bag filter.
 Check the purge air pressure is sufficient as per requirement. Filters
having bags and cages require 6.2 to 6.8 Kg/cm2 clean, dry (dew point
-40°C), compressed air. Check for any leakage in air line connections.
 Check for any air passing sound through solenoid operated diaphragm
valves. If passing is there, check the diaphragm condition for cut or
damage. Replace the diaphragm as per requirement.
 Check the sequence of operation of SOVs.
Check the differential pressure of the filter. Normal pressure drop for a
filter will fall in the range of 1 to 5 inches of water after the elements are
broken in. The differential pressure reading will increase as the filter
elements get dirty.
 Check for any abnormal sound is coming from vent fan.
 Open the inspection doors of bag filter and inspect the air distribution
pipes, venture and filter bags tube sheet for any abnormality or damage.
 Remove the air distribution pipes and bag filters along with cages.
 Clean the filter bags using compressed air. Care should be taken while
cleaning as bags may get damaged if excess air pressure is used or air is
ejected at one point for long duration.
 Inspect the bags for any damage. Damaged bags should be replaced with
new one.
 Inspect the cages for any damage or deformation. Repair the deformed
bars of cage and if beyond repairable, replace the damaged cags with
new one.

 Inspect the tube sheet for any abnormality or damage. If req. repair the
same.
 Inspect the Perforated plate at inlet for dust laden air distribution. Repair
if any abnormality noticed or replace the same if beyond repairable.
 Check bag filter casing and hopper internally for any erosion, If required
repair the same.
 After cleaning of bags, insert the cages in to the bags. Ensure that the
perimeter of bags are not more that 20-30 mm that of cage for proper
fitment.
 Connect air distribution pipes.
 Check the condition of hose pipe connecting air header to individual purge
air line. Replace if damaged or in yearly frequency due to aging effect.
 Replace the sealing gaskets / rope of the doors and close the same.
 Check the physical condition of explosion vent. It must be replaced if they
appear damaged, corroded, or leaking.
 In case, Rotary air lock feeder is provided at bag filter hopper discharge,
check the physical condition of the same.
 Check the condition of chain & sprockets for worn out. Replace if
excessively worn out.
 Check the tightness and alignment of chain & sprockets or coupling
whichever is provided. Lubricate the chain & sprockets.
 Check the oil level in gear box. If required top up the oil.
 Ensure the freeness of rotor of rotary feeder.
 In case, vent fan is provided with bag filter-
 Check the free ness of suction flap damper.
 Check the condition of suction cone and impeller through inspection
window at fan casing.
 Inspect the bearings and take bearing radial clearance and if clearance is
more than specified limit for that bearing, replace the same.
 Lubricate the bearings with EP-2 grease.
 Check the condition of pulleys and v-belts. If required, replace the belts.
