Rocket

This document discusses different types of rockets, including thermal rockets which use heated inert propellant, solid-fuel rockets that use solid propellant, and liquid-propellant rockets that feed liquid propellant from tanks. It notes that rockets have a structural frame similar to an airplane fuselage, made from strong but lightweight materials like titanium or aluminum. The document concludes by stating that the first rocket capable of reaching space was the German V2 missile launched in 1942.

Thermal rockets use an inert propellant, heated by a power source such as

electric or nuclear power. Solid-fuel rockets (or solid-propellant rockets or

motors) are chemical rockets which use propellant in a solid state. Liquid-
propellant rocketsuse one or more liquid propellants fed from tanks. The
structural system, or frame, is similar to the fuselage of an airplane. The
frame is made from very strong but lightweight materials, like titanium or
aluminium. The first rocket which could fly high enough to get into
space was the V2 missile which was first launched by Germany in 1942.
