The rocket engine operates based on Newton's Third Law of equal and opposite reaction, where fuel is converted to gas and expelled from the bottom, which creates an upward reaction force propelling the rocket. The first modern rocketry was invented by Dr. Robert Goddard, and rockets can move in a vacuum like space according to the rocket theory that uses expelled gases to create thrust through reaction forces.

The Rocket engine works like a balloon on the basic principle proposed by Newton

which is- Newton's Third Law “For every action there is an equal and opposite
reaction.
When the rocket is launched, fuel is converted into gas and pumped outside. This is
the action force which acts on the ground. According to the newton’s third law there
is an equal upward acting reaction force which ultimately makes the rocket go
upwards.
The first rockets that were used in modern rocketry was invented by Dr. Robert
Goddard. This is the reason why the rocket moves in vacuum such as space. This is
called rocket theory.
