Introductory Message
For the facilitator:
This learning resource material is essentially a self-contained Module with
easy and challenging exercises for Music Grade 6 learners who want to interact
actively with the lessons in Music 6.
This module presents RHYTHM as a topic in Music 6 with an introduction
and an overview where necessary. This is followed by a Pre-assessment to check
what the learner already knew. Thus, if the learner got a perfect score, then the
module must be skipped.
This module, however, illustrates musical scores as examples for easy
discussion and supported by activities to accomplish and ponder.
Music 6 topic on Rhythm has clear and concise explanations with a series of
contextualized exercises that range from easy, difficult to most difficult items.
Learners must take note of the musical concepts to be remembered.
In answering the pre-tests, activities or exercises, and post-tests, learners
must use separate sheets.
A key to the exercises is provided at the back of this book for immediate
feedback.
Remember that this module is prepared and evaluated as a learning material

What I Need to Know

This module was designed and written with you in mind. It is here to help you
master the element of rhythm. The scope of this module permits it to be used in
many different learning situations. The language used recognizes the diverse
vocabulary level of students. The lessons are arranged to follow the standard
sequence of the course. But the order in which you read them can be changed to
correspond with the textbook you are now using.

Music is made up of different kinds of notes and rests to represent duration


of sounds and silence. We use different notes and rests in making a composition.
Notes are symbols for sounds in music and rests are symbols for silence.
