After 8 hours of nursing intervention, the patient was able to feed successfully with milk from adoptive mothers. The nursing student performed an assessment, noting no breast enlargement or inverted/flat nipples. She instructed the mother on requesting milk from the bank or adoptive mothers, encouraged discussing previous breastfeeding experiences, and discouraged supplemental bottle feedings to exclusively breastfeed. The rationale was to provide supplemental needs, identify causes of insufficient milk, and prevent problems that could lead to discontinuing breastfeeding through support.
