Morgan Stanley's Risk Analytics department that resides within Firm Risk Management (FRM) performs
quantitative analysis on the Firm's Credit, Market, Operational, and Liquidity risk exposures. The
department’s primary objective is to measure and project risks across the Firm to support executive
decisions and protect the Firm. Risk Analytics operates in Morgan Stanley’s offices in Budapest, London,
Mumbai and New York.
Risk Analytics has an opening for an analyst/associate-level person to support the model development
teams. The successful candidate will work extensively with credit risk models involving IRB approaches,
CCAR and CECL. The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, an excellent work ethic and a
high degree of interest in both quantitative and non-quantitative aspects of financial risk management.
Primary Responsibilities
Quickly develop a deep understanding of Morgan Stanley’s credit risk analytics models
Determine key metrics that indicate how credit risk analytics models are performing
Produce and automate model monitoring reports for a broad range of credit models
Implement changes to model monitoring reports as market conditions and model updates
warrant such changes
Collaborate with Model Owners and Model Developers to conduct ad hoc analyses to identify
causes for model underperformance
Determine and communicate key developments in model performance to senior stakeholders
and the credit oversight committee
Partner with teams across Risk Analytics, technology, model risk management, credit risk
officers and other teams throughout FRM and the Firm
QUALIFICATIONS
The AIP (Alternative Investment Partners) business is the Fund of Funds division of MSIM. AIP
provides institutions, foundations, endowments and high net worth individuals with access to
diversified portfolios of privately placed alternative investment products.
The position includes Portfolio services responsibilities namely maintaining books and records of the
AIP portfolios, Pricing and valuations, fund administration, Client reporting and Documentation. This
position would require the individual to work closely with the local India AIS teams as well as the
West Conshohocken team in the US, also liaise, and interact with various third parties like fund
houses, administrators, custodians and valuation agents for the performance, reconciliation and
investment information, which is received through different sources and in different, formats
?emails/websites etc.
The process is manual. The team works in a very time sensitive environment with multiple deadlines
and involves in-depth analysis of the returns, understanding of market changes in relation to the
performance of funds and complexities of the funds. The team is also responsible for reconciliation
oversight of the various third parties that provide reconciliation, pricing and valuation services for
loan level information. This data is produced in a platform utilized by the Investment Team to
monitor the portfolios with the ultimate goal of providing superior product to our external clients.
Responsibilities
Gathering information from various fund houses, banks, administrators and liaising with
them.
Perform daily, weekly monthly and quarterly pricing with proper due diligence.
Indepth analysis, calculation of the returns and understanding of market changes in relation
to the performance and valuations of the underlying hedge funds
Reconciling the cash balances daily and performing the required checks when monitoring the
settlement of cash transactions.
Reporting to internal operations teams and communicating with custodian banks about cash
transactions
Reconciling the Holdings with the administrators and investigating break causation,
recommend proposed solutions and finalizing the reconciliations.
Monitoring various mailboxes for notifications of documents
Maintenance of agreements and investment documentation in the Document management
system.
Partnering with Mumbai and West Conshohocken teams.
Maintenance of integrity and secrecy of the firm
Manage risk associated with the job profile
Involvement in projects related to the job function and liaising with IT on automation
projects
Perform related duties as assigned
