Learning
Competencies Explain how protein is made using information from DNA (S10LT-IIId-37)
and Codes:
Key Concepts/ Protein are polymers constructed from amino acids. The protein synthesis starts in the
Understanding nucleus of the cell that contain DNA and the DNA will be the template for the protein
to be Developed making process.
1. Objectives (DO 8, s. 2015)
Define DNA
Knowledge Define protein
Classify Amino Acids
Identity the use of protein
Skills
Explain the process of protein synthesis
Attitudes Relate the importance of protein in the body
Values Develop appreciation on the importance of the protein in the body
2. Content Protein Synthesis: The protein making process
3. Learning Resources Tv (projector), Laptop, Chalk and Chalkboard
4. Procedure (Gagné’s Nine Events of Instruction)
Pair-storming: Pair the students with their seatmates and let them brain storm
on the questions that will be presented in the monitor. Discuss the introduction
1. Gaining Attention of the protein and DNA base on their answers.
(5 minutes)
Question: 1. What is DNA?
2. What is protein?
Tell the students that today they will be learning about protein synthesis.
2. Objectives
(5 minutes) Slide showing: Put a slide show and let the students identify what are the
things that are shown in the monitor that are rich in protein.
Debriefing: Based on the previous activity on identifying which objects that are
rich in protein.
3. Prior Learning
(6 minutes) Questions: 1. What can you observe in the pictures?
2. Why do protein are important in the body?
3. How do you think these protein form?
Discussion: Discuss the process of protein synthesis in the cell up to its use in
4. Content Presentation the body
(17 minutes) Video Presentation: Present a maximum of 10 minutes video on how the
protein is created
Concept: Group the students into 5 and let them create a concept map about
