FOUR DIGIT NUMBERS ( Part – 1 )

1) The smallest 1 digit number is 1


2) The largest 1 digit number is 9
3) The smallest 2 digit number is 10
4) The largest 2 digit number is 99
5) The smallest 3 digit number is 100
6) The largest 3 digit number is 999
7) The smallest 4 digit number is 1000
8) The largest 4 digit number is 9999

Note: By adding 1 to the greatest 3 digit number (999 +1 ) we get the smallest 4 digit
number (1000).

The greatest 4 digit number is 9999 and it is read as nine thousand nine hundred ninety
nine.

Consider the numeral 3489

So place value of 9 is 9 ones or 9
8 is in tens place.
So place value of 8 is 8 tens or 80
4 is in hundreds place.
So place value of 4 is 4 hundreds or 400
3 is in thousands place.
So place value of 3 is 3 thousands or 3000.
