Introduction

Background Case Study

Laundry industry has been revolutionising since the creation of modern washing machine
and dryer. The development of new technology of washing machine lead by huge company in
the world has changed how the world defines the laundry business. From washing cloth or
other textile using hands, people nowadays are using machine to help ease their job.
Moreover the invention of robot to do the hard difficult laundry is the proof that how laundry
industry has revolutionise in this modern century

The term case study refers to the method of analysis and a specific research design to
examining a problem. In which it can be used to generalize findings across the public. The
methods used to study a case can rest within a quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method
investigative paradigm. But in this case study the use of SWOT analysis and Business Model
Canvas as learned in ENT 600 will be applied on the topic. We will apply both theoretical
and practical aspect of technology entrepreneurship

In this case study, focuses is on laundry business that operates in Malaysia which
provides laundry service to the people. The target people for the case study are people who
own Small-Medium Enterprise (SME) category. We will investigate how they work in the
business and how to improve their business using the knowledge in mechanical field. The
use of modern technology and technology entrepreneurship will be the main focus for the
case study
Purpose of Study

Purpose of this study is to expose the student to the hierarchy of real working business
in industry using case study method. Laundry Company that belongs to Small-Medium
Enterprise (SME) category will be the main focus of the study where a meeting and interview
will be conducted with the owner of the laundry business. The end of case study will provide
the potential or generate technological solution for the business.

In addition, student can learn how to manage and keep the business stable when it come
with problems and challenges during the business operation. Student also can applied the
theoretical and practical aspect of technology of entrepreneurship on this case study which
could help the business growth.

Problem Statement

During the interview session with the owner/person in charge, student may write a
note about how the company start up base on the Business Model Canvas. By the end of the
interview, student shall understand what are the problems may occur in the business that meet
the technological solution. There are the few problems that can be found in the business:

I. Limited of space for new machine and workplace


II. Customer does not take their property on time.
III. Goods difficult to acquire from the storage.
IV. Lack of marketing strategies
