Viscose

This document compares different types of rayon fibers including standard viscose, tyre cord, HWM, polynosic, and TenX by examining their dope composition, spinning bath composition, spinning parameters, structural features, and properties. Polynosic rayons have particularly high strength with higher wet strength. The reaction sequence in different spinning baths involves varying concentrations of cellulose, acids, bases, zinc sulfate, and other additives as well as differences in temperature, stretch percentage, and spinning speed.

Assignment I

Manmade Fibres (TTPC 202)

Name: Nitish Kumar

Roll Number: 18110030

INTRODUCTION:Viscose is not a synthetic fiber made from petroleum;

but rather it’s a “regenerated cellulosic fiber” made from cellulose - most
commonly wood pulp, but many plants can be used, such as bamboo. The
cellulose is broken down, and then “regenerated” into a fiber.
Comparison between the different types of rayon:

Concluding remark based on the above comparison.

Remark 1) polynosics are high strength viscose rayon fibres with particularly higher wet
strength .

Remark 2) The reaction sequence in the spin bath is on the lines suggested below
